22 TV Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spinoff

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friday Night Lights, Gilmore Girls, Girls, How To Get Away With Murder, Lists, Mad Men, Pinned, Revenge, Scandal, The 100, The Mindy Project
3. Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation worked because of an incredible set of characters working in a very specific role. It was hilarious escapism and close to perfect, making it difficult to continue the story past its series finale. Except for Jean-Ralphio Saperstein that is.

Jean-Ralphio was outrageous, inappropriate and absolutely hilarious. The comedy ended with him faking his death and opening a casino with the insurance money, which is a great starting point for the character. It wouldn’t be as earnest as Parks and Recreation, but it could be great.

2. Kate Morgan, 24

There’s been a substantial amount of talk about the 24 franchise, the latest being a law-based offshoot, but Kate Morgan was a major missed opportunity for the franchise.

When 24: Live Another Day brought Jack Bauer we met Kate, who was struggling in her own right. Over the course of the season she became a full-fledged rogue CIA operative. Working with Jack will do that for you, of course.

While Jack was captured at the end of the season, Kate was free and clear to keep on foiling major plots. She ended the season by giving up her badge, but that’s never stopped 24 before. Yvonne Strahovski has the talent and action capability to pick up where Jack left off.

1. Elsbeth Tascioni, The Good Wife

There’s never been a character quite like Elsbeth Tascioni. Like many recurring characters on The Good Wife, she had a personality that popped. She was vibrant and excellent.

The legal drama was known for its incredible guest and recurring stars, so Carrie Preston being one of the best is a testament to her talent. Her approach to everything – the law, friendship, romance – were fascinating to watch.

Putting Elsbeth in a lawfirm with a collection of The Good Wife’s other recurring lawyers would be magic. At this point I’d take her having a larger role on The Good Fight.

Alamin is an aspiring writer, social media editor, and television enthusiast. While he has been a TV fan since the days of Martin, Living Single, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the introduction of Netflix and a rewatch of Grey's Anatomy kick things into high gear. One of his life goals is to find a Cul-de-Sac crew of his own and he'll never stop hoping for "Happy Endings" to return. Alamin may not love every television show, but he'll definitely catch any new show out. You can also usually find him talking about whatever he's currently watching on Twitter.
