‘Bridgerton’ Renewed For Seasons 3 and 4

Netflix is going all in on its Shonda Rhimes period drama, with Bridgerton getting a two season renewal, taking it through Seasons 3 and 4, per Variety.

Based on Julia Quinn’s novels, Season 1 was a huge hit, racking up record-breaking views for the streaming giant. The show made headlines recently when it was announced Regé-Jean Page would not return for Season 2.

Season 2 will be based on “The Viscount Who Loved Me,” and is currently in production. It stars Jonathan Bailey as Anthony and Simone Ashley as Kate.

“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience,” said Rhimes. “But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”

Bridgerton Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
