Euphoria Season 2 Episode 1 - Zendaya

Euphoria Renewed for Season 3 on HBO

Euphoria, News

With only half of its highly-successful second season out, HBO renewed Euphoria for Season 3 today!

The current season of Euphoria keeps drawing in larger and larger audiences, so it’s no surprise that the Emmy-winning drama will return for another season.

Amidst the intertwining lives in the town of East Highland, 17-year-old Rue must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction in Season 2.

According to HBO, the “season two premiere episode debuted as the most viewed episode of an HBO series ever on HBO Max, currently with more than 14 million viewers across platforms, more than double the average audience of Season 1 (6.6 million viewers per episode).”

Plus, “the season two premiere episode was also the #1 most social premium cable episode since the Game of Thrones finale in May 2019.”

With an audience that large, Euphoria has a secure place in pop-culture conversations right now. Even if someone doesn’t watch the show, they know someone who does and cannot stop talking about it.

Social media catches fire every Sunday night and carries over into Monday as we come together to share theories about characters and storylines.

Now, we get to do it all again next season, and Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, is equally as ecstatic to see Euphoria continue.

“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3,” Orsi said.

It couldn’t be more accurate that Euphoria manages to raise the bar by pushing narrative boundaries each week.

After the many ominous cliffhangers on Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4, “You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can,” it’s reassuring to know the story will go on in some way.

Optimistically, Zendaya’s Rue will be a part of that, as will the rest of its stellar cast, who continue to deliver all-star performances that take the material to truly emotional places.

Sam Levinson, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Zendaya, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein are executive producers on Euphoria‘s second season.
