Tyler Hoechlin Returning to Beacon Hills for ‘Teen Wolf’ Movie
It’s official: Paramount+ confirms Tyler Hoechlin will be spending his summer hiatus from Superman & Lois in Beacon Hills!
Yes, leather-jacket-loving, scowling werewolf Derek Hale is coming back to us, with Hoechlin set to reprise his beloved role for the Teen Wolf reunion movie.
Hoechlin starred as the gruff supernatural mentor to Tyler Posey’s Scott McCall for four seasons before departing the series. He and Dylan O’Brien would later return together for guest appearances in Teen Wolf‘s final season.
Hoechlin, who just wrapped a new season as Clark Kent on The CW’s Superman & Lois, has been in negotiations for several months to star in Teen Wolf‘s revival movie.
In addition to reprising his iconic role, the actor will also serve as a producer on the film.
He joins a stacked roster of returning original castmates, including Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Crystal Reed, Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Colton Haynes, Melissa Ponzio, and Ian Bohen.
Jeff Davis, the series creator and this film’s executive producer, shared a look at the actor’s first day on set, where Hoechlin can be spotted donning Derek’s signature jacket and scruff.
The Hale family will play a prominent role in this series sequel, with the movie set to introduce us to Derek’s 15-year-old son Eli, played by Vince Mattis, and welcome the return of Bohen’s diabolical Peter Hale. Shelley Hennig’s Malia will also make an appearance.
However, there’s no Hale we’re more excited to see than the tough guy with a big heart and an even bigger fondness for lurking in leather jackets.
This casting announcement does make you wonder what precisely the Teen Wolf movie would have done with a plot centering around Derek’s literal child if Hoechlin hadn’t signed on for the film.
Thankfully we never have to know, for the prodigal werewolf has returned and all is right in Beacon Hills.
