Los Espookys will not return for Season 3. HBO announced that the comedy series had been canceled after two seasons.

Deadline exclusively reported the news about the show’s ending after two seasons “as the cast moves on to other projects.”

The series, created by Julio Torres, Ana Fabrega, and Fred Armisen, debuted on HBO in 2019. Its second season premiered with Los Espookys Season 2 Episode 1, “Los Espiritus en el Cementerio (The Spirits in the Cemetery),” in September.

It concluded with Los Espookys Season 2 Episode 6, “El Eclipse (The Eclipse),” on October 22, 2022. But, as TV Line’s report reiterates, that season finale now serves as the comedy’s series finale.

Deadline notes, “Season 2 aired Fridays at 11 p.m., which is a tough time slot for viewers and could contribute to the dip in ratings.”

Los Espookys “follows a group of friends who turn their shared passion for horror into a peculiar business, providing horror to clients who need it, in a dreamy Latin American country where the strange and eerie are just a part of daily life.”

Deadline’s announcement included a statement from HBO about the show’s cancelation. “We are thrilled we could deliver the unique and hilarious second season of Los Espookys to viewers finally, more than three years after the series premiere, due to pandemic delays.”

“We thank Julio, Ana, and Fred for this imaginative and delightfully bizarre world they created. We are not currently planning on a third season, but we would welcome the opportunity to work with this cast and crew in the future,” it concluded.
