Fan Expo Canada 2023 Preview: Superheroes, Scream, and the Vice President of SAG-AFTRA LA

Fan Expo Canada returns to Toronto from August 24 to 27 with a star-studded line-up of fan-favorite heroes and legendary villains.

For TV enthusiasts, the convention boasts a jam-packed roster of guests, including Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox, What We Do in the Shadows‘ Harvey Guillén, and the cast of The Office.

It is important to note the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are on strike. Actors can take photos and sign autographs, but they cannot discuss/promote struck work. For more information, attendees can visit SAG-AFTRA’s website. In addition, Vice President of SAG-AFTRA LA and Star Trek: Picard star Michelle Hurd will host a panel on Saturday.

Hell’s Kitchen Heroes

Chances are, if you consider yourself a Marvel fan, you are also a Daredevil fan. The live-action Netflix series has been praised as one of Marvel Studios best adaptations to date, and its popularity has only continued to grow eight years after its premiere.

With a reboot in the works at Disney+ titled Daredevil: Born Again, returning stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal are taking the stage at Fan Expo Canada to reunite with fans new and old ahead of the new series.

For those eager to see Matt Murdock and Kingpin face off in person, Cox and D’Onofrio are set to host a chat on Saturday. The Punisher will take the stage afterwards, with Bernthal hosting a candid conversation with those in attendance.

Hell’s Kitchen may be unprotected, but Toronto is thriving in the presence of the Daredevil cast.

Spider-Man and Star Wars

If you watch a lot of TV and prefer to go with the vibes, this convention has all your interests covered.

Yellowjackets and Wednesday fans can meet The Addams Family legend, Christina Ricci. The actress will take the stage on Sunday to chat and potentially reveal the secret to giving off such a terrifying onscreen presence.

The Star Wars fandom is being downright spoiled with an appearance from Canadian and icon franchise villain Hayden Christensen. Yes, Anakin Skywalker is ascending on Fan Expo Canada, and he is bringing tons of opportunities for photo ops and autograph signings.

And if animation is your jam, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse fans will get to meet the voice behind our beloved Miles Morales — Shameik Moore. Matt Lanter, who also plays Anakin but in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will attend alongside Ashley Eckstein, who voices Ahsoka Tano.

Do You Like Scary Movies?

For fans of horror or, more specifically, the 1996 horror-comedy masterpiece Scream, this is the Fan Expo Canada line-up you have been waiting for. And even if you aren’t a fan of the Ghostface-centric horror franchise, chances are you will recognize the cast from your favorite TV shows.

The cast reunion includes Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo, Good Girls), Neve Campbell (Party of Five, House of Cards), Skeet Ulrich (Riverdale), and Jamie Kennedy (Ghost Whisperer).

They will host an “Evening with the Scream cast” on Thursday, an event that promises to be a terrifyingly good time with stories, games, and casual conversations from the ensemble. To top off this killer event, the cast will be on hand all weekend to take photos and sign your scariest Stab memorabilia.

Typically, we recommend not picking up the phone when Ghostface rings, but we are glad this cast answered the call.
