Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 7 CoBro

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 7: CoBro

Only Murders in the Building, Reviews

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 7, “CoBro,” finds our trio split up, each processing their big fight with someone unexpected — Charles and Uma, Oliver and Matthew Broderick, and Mabel and Theo.

Half the fun of the episode is watching Charles, Mabel, and Oliver interact with someone different. It’s always fun when shows mix things up by switching partners for a bit, and “CoBro” finds success in exploring new dynamics.

Uma continues to be an absolute delight, and pairing her with Charles is a smart choice.

They could not be more different people, and unlike Mabel or Oliver, Charles won’t respond to her with sarcasm. In addition to providing a clue, she also helps Charles realize that he needs to make up with Oliver and Charles before it’s too late.

All the talk of friends dying had me convinced that Oliver’s heart attack would be brought up at some point during the episode, and it’s disappointing that this isn’t the case. This would have been a good, albeit potentially painful, way to bring it up, but it could have been done really well.

After the big fight during Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 6, “Ghost Light,” I was fully expecting Cinda Canning to return, and while Mabel does change up her investigative team, Cinda doesn’t make the roster. Theo does.

Theo and Mabel have such a cute friendship, and it’s a lot of fun seeing him again. Through him, we’re able to see a more playful side of Mabel. The two of them crack jokes while working the case, and he helps fill the void that Charles and Oliver have left after the fight. Mabel really needed some friend time.

“CoBro” delivers a solid episode, complete with everything that makes this show work. Our trio is back at the forefront with each of them coming to terms with their fight in different ways.

Stray Thoughts
  • Charles and Oliver being too late to apologize to Mabel is devastating.
  • Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 8, “Sitzprobe,” better feature the two of them tracking down Mabel ASAP.
  • I don’t know what I was expecting CoBro to be about, but it certainly was not that.
  • All the big-name guest stars appear to be having a blast on this show.
  • I love Oliver’s reaction to Charles saying Loretta’s not the killer.
  • Uma and Bunny were such good friends; I miss Bunny.
  • Do you think Dickie killed Ben? I’m not sold, but I also think there’s a chance we have two killers (one per attempt).
