Caitlin Reilly and Charlie Bushnell Talk Voicing Puppets on ‘In The Know’ [Interview]
The new comedy from Peacock, In The Know, offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at public radio—NPR’s third most popular interview show, to be exact. The series combines a workplace sitcom with stop-motion puppetry and throws in live interviews with celebrity guests as a fun bonus.
Caitlin Reilly and Charlie Bushnell recently spoke with us about voicing Fabian and Chase on the animated series, how they see their characters, and the passion behind the production. (You can watch the full interview below.)

“What attracted me to the project was the people involved,” started Bushnell. “Everyone involved in this is amazing and incredibly talented.”
The creators of In The Know are three guys who are no strangers to comedy. Brandon Gardner, Mike Judge, and Zach Woods are behind this series with such an interesting concept.
“I remember meeting with Zach and Brandon,” Bushnell recalled. “Just right off the bat it was such a fun energy that we all had. Even in that initial Zoom meeting we were laughing the whole time and coming up with new ideas for the scene and the character, and it just took off from there.”
He continued, saying they had the time of their lives and added, “I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed making it because there was a lot of love put into it.”

Reilly referenced the writing as what drew her to the series. “It was the funniest thing I had ever read in—ever,” said Reilly. “And I just really wanted to be a part of it.”
Reilly voices Fabian, a fact-checker and researcher for the In The Know radio program. She broke down a little bit about what makes Fabian tick.
“She cares a lot about how she’s perceived, which I feel like we can all relate to especially in the world of social media,” expressed Reilly.

“Ultimately,” she continued. “Fabian wants to do good and sometimes gets in her own way, which I also relate to.”
Bushnell found himself to be quite different than his puppet counterpart, Chase, the office intern. “He’s a frat bro, which I am not,” laughed Bushnell. “But something I really appreciate about him is he’s kind of a sweetheart as well, he’s got a heart of gold.”
“That’s something we really wanted to emphasize,” he explained.

When asked who their characters would want to see interviewed on In The Know, Reilly selected Stacey Abrams for Fabian, and Bushnell revealed a detail about Chase with a very Chase-like answer:
“He’s a hardcore Christian, I believe, and so if Jesus came on the show […] that’d be a pretty epic day for Chase.”
Reilly agreed, “I think the answer is Jesus. Jesus Christ.”
