House of the Dragon Season 2 Unveils Dueling Trailers for June Premiere on HBO

News

HBO is taking the civil war for Westeros to the next level with dueling trailers for House of the Dragon Season 2.

Each trailer shows the clashing perspectives of the Green Council fighting for King Aegon and the Black Council fighting for Queen Rhaenyra.

HBO also announced that Season 2 will return on Sunday, June 16, at 9/8c on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. The season will consist of eight episodes, a reduction from the ten-episode Season 1.

The Green Trailer shows Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) attempting to guide her son, King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), in his bid to keep the throne, which has led to war. Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) is eager to take on the Blacks, especially his uncle Prince Daemon (Matt Smith).

The Black Trailer shows Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) determined to take her rightful throne even if it means razing the kingdom. Although they have an ally in House Velaryon, they may need to use force to make the other houses keep their oaths to Rhaenyra’s late father.

Both House of the Dragon trailers unsurprisingly feature plenty of the House Targaryen’s feared dragons. Fans have plenty of dragon and human fights to look forward to this season. The Season 2 synopsis reads as follows:

Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively. As each side believes theirs to be the rightful seat on the Iron Throne, the Green and Black trailers reflect those two perspectives in separate yet complementary halves of the same story. For global audiences, “All Must Choose” their side of House Targaryen as the realm fractures in season two.
