Previews, The Big Door Prize

Apple TV+’s charming comedy The Big Door Prize returns for a second season. After upending the lives of everyone in Deerfield during Season 1, the enigmatic Morpho Machine isn’t done yet.

The Big Door Prize Season 1 ended on quite a cliffhanger. It ended with the Morpho Machine—which was inexplicably working again after being stabbed with a sword just a few hours earlier—asking viewers and the residents of Deerfield if they were ready for the next stage.

Adding to the mystery, Hana, who we find out has much more experience with the machine than she let on, says the machine had never done that before.

Oh yeah, Hana and Mr. Johnson also have those weird blue marks that appeared on Dusty after the Morpho showed up, leaving viewers with lots to ponder during the hiatus.

So, what exactly is “the next stage?” It might involve the visions residents start receiving in place or the potential cards they received during season 1. Whatever it is, Father Ruben and Hana will be on the case during season two.

Hana and Father Ruben have the longest histories with the machine of all the characters. This season, they set out to investigate the machine that so profoundly influenced their lives.

While Hana and Ruben try to find out the truth about the Morpho Machine, the rest of the residents of Deerfield are still navigating the repercussions of everything that happened during season 1 and pondering new existential questions prompted by Morpho.

After deciding to take some time apart, Dusty and Cass will figure out who they are as individuals. If the trailer is anything to go by, Dusty may even have a potential new love interest.

Speaking of new romances, love is in the air for Gorgio and Natalie, who did some not-so-subtle flirting on the Season 1 finale. Even Izzy gets a little romance this season.

Whether it’s the characters questioning their lives, relationships, and futures or figuring out the mysterious machine at the center of it all, it looks like there will be a lot to unpack on The Big Door Prize Season 2.

Dusty (Chris O’dowd) and Cass (Gabrielle Dennis) decide to take time apart while Trina (Djouliet Amara) and Jacob (Sammy Fourlas) learn that they can shed their old labels. Giorgio (Josh Segarra) and Izzy (Crystal Fox) each find romance, while Hana (Ally Maki) and Father Reuben (Damon Gupton) attempt to discover the purpose of the machine.
