ABC Announces Programming for the 2024/2025 Season

ABC has announced its primetime programming slate for the 2024/2025 season.

The lineup includes returning favorites, like 9-1-1 (Season 8), Grey’s Anatomy (Season 21), and Abbott Elementary (Season 4). The seventh and final season of The Conners, The Rookie (Season 7), and Will Trent (Season 3) will premiere during midseason alongside unscripted programming.

It will also feature Doctor Odyssey, a new medical drama from Ryan Murphy, on Thursdays and a new crime drama starring Kaitlin Olson, High Potential on Tuesdays. ABC’s latest slate will expand The Bachelor franchise with the highly-anticipated spinoff series, The Golden Bachelorette, on Wednesdays.

“We have a lot to celebrate as we gear up to deliver a fall season that’s packed with compelling new series, beloved fan favorites, and must-see live events,” Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, said.

“We’re focused on driving our viewership with an expanding slate anchored by best-in-class talent and supported by the enviable and combined reach of ABC and Hulu,” Erwich added.

ABC’s fall lineup includes unscripted programming such as American’s Funniest Home Videos (Season 35), Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, and popular films under The Wonderful World of Disney.

Scamanda, the ABC New Studios documentary series based on the podcast of the same name, will follow Abbott Elementary‘s Season 4 premiere.

The docuseries tells “the story of Amanda Riley — a wife, mother, blogger, and Christian — whose tragic cancer tale captivates thousands. But Amanda has a secret that she’s dying to keep, and after an anonymous tip to an investigative reporter, her own words may prove to be her downfall,” according to its synopsis. 

ABC’s midseason lineup includes The Rookie, Will Trent, and The Conners, as well as American Idol, The Bachelor, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, and What Would You Do?

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, from executive producer Reese Witherspoon and hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of The Home Edit, will also make a midseason debut.

DOCTOR ODYSSEY

Doctor Odyssey is ABC’s new medical drama from Ryan Murphy. It stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, and Phillipa Soo.

Jackson plays Max “the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder. It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore,” per the show’s logline.

The new drama joins ABC’s lineup, following Murphy’s other procedural drama, 9-1-1, and preceding the landmark 21st season of Grey’s Anatomy.

HIGH POTENTIAL

Kaitlin Olson stars as Morgan, “a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective” on High Potential. Daniel Sunjata stars as the aforementioned detective, Karadec.

The new drama series, produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios, also stars Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Osman, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selena.

Based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), High Potential is written by Drew Goddard. Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive produce for Goddard Textiles. Rob Thomas serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dan Etheridge of Spondoolie Productions.

Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company, also executive produce the show. Alethea Jones is a director and executive producer. Kaitlin Olson serves as producer on High Potential.
