Today, the media is full of the story about how the Wisconsin Supreme Court has reversed its own prior ruling and will now expand the use of ballot collection boxes.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that officials can place ballot drop boxes around their communities in this fall’s elections, overturning its own ruling two years ago limiting their use in the presidential swing state.
The court limited the use of drop boxes in July 2022, ruling then that they could be placed only in local election clerks’ offices and no one other than the voter could return a ballot in person.
Conservatives controlled the court at that time, but Janet Protasiewicz’s election victory in April 2023 flipped the court to liberal control. Seeing an opening, Priorities USA, a progressive voter mobilization group, asked the court in February to revisit the decision.
At least 29 other states allow for absentee ballot drop boxes, according to the U.S. Vote Foundation, and expanded use in Wisconsin could have major implications in the presidential race.
Wisconsin again figures to be a crucial swing state after President Joe Biden barely won it in 2020 and Donald Trump narrowly took it in 2016. Democrats believe that making it easier to vote absentee will boost turnout for their side. (more)

They needed 6,850 valid signatures to force a recall election in Vos district. There were 6,866 valid signatures collected from that district before the commission voted Thursday to reject the additional 188, leaving them with 6,678.
Democratic Commissioner Carrie Riepl joined the three Republican members in voting to reject the recall. She did not give a reason for her vote during the meeting.
And just like that….Bloomberg polls rolled out a Trump +7 in PA, with a Biden +3 in WI.

My unsolicited advice to Wisconsin patriots looking to bring home 10 electoral votes for Trump this fall: Keep your eyes on Milwaukee County’s voter registration numbers.
Thanks to Democrat failure, the city and county has been in a population nosedive, and has 100,000 fewer residents than it did in 1960. Therefore, it continuously has less voting power over the rest of the state.
In 2020, it had 557,089 registrations on its voter roll. Today, that number is 489,950.
We are entering the stretch of the election cycle in which voter registration drives are underway. As of right now, the Democrats have 67,136 fewer registrations with which to get Biden back to the 317,527 ballots that he had counted for him in 2020. Not possible with Trump set to strip a lot of his voters away in the urban core.
Watch for the bloating there (and in Dane County). We are fortunate that WI hasn’t ordered Automatic Voter Registration to prevent voter roll atrophy in the Democrat hellholes.

Absentee ballots in Wisconsin must be requested by registered voters in writing and be returned with two signatures including the voter and a witness.
That should be a trail that is relatively easy to follow!
They can put a serial number on every 1$ bill.Just not ballots…
The concern is that with serial numbers assigned to a person and a ballot, voting is no longer anonymous. In my county at least, the identifier is on the envelope for returning the absentee ballot.
Poorly written article. In the article, they interchanged “mail in ballots”, which are mailed to everyone, with “absentee ballots”, which must be requested. They are two different things.
There is no reason for drop boxes unless the goal is to stuff them when it is dark outside and no one is looking over MANY WEEKS of “early voting.”
That means the goal is not to go collect more mail ballots than them – they have more access and know exactly which registrations that got a ballot assigned in the mail are ripe for the taking. Ballot harvesting is not legal in WI.
That means any and all effort to win WI must hinge on exposing and highlighting the massive ballot harvesting occuring in and around basically every city with more than 5,000 people in it.

Here in WA, mail-in ballots are required (no choice), 2022 found mail bags stuffed with ballots in a ravine (too late to be counted)! Give us in-person voting, photo IDs and signature checks!

Disagree. Having worked the polls. The problem is with the voters. We have early voting. Originally, the absentee ballots could not be given to us, they had to be dropped off at the clerks office (or mailed to them). Now, we accept them.
Wisconsin has absentee ballots; not mail in ballots. Because absentee ballots must be requested in advance and the clerk knows who was sent them. It’s easy to verify them.

It should immediately be appealed to SCOTUS which back in Oct22 overturned lower courts which allowed the counting of un/misdated ballots. SCOTUS reasoning was that state election law required ballots to be properly dated in accordance to such laws and the courts have no authority to change that. Its the job of the legislature.
That same reasoning should hold true for drop boxes not permitted by state law. WISC has no authority to permit them if state law doesn’t.

The RNC needs to sue in federal court tomorrow. Only the state legislatures can change election laws. The Supreme Court of WS should be ordered to go pound salt and stay out of the election business.
That procedure is what happened in Pa. 4 years ago. The State has a ruling that only the Legislature can change voter rules, but the SOB’s did it anyway. The Supreme Court in Pa. is of Democrat power. I raised Hell and it fell on deaf ears! The Supreme Court in Pa. IS A JOKE!
The courts do not have the authority to make that decision. They can only affirm what is in the state laws. Drop boxes are NOT permitted except at polling places and they must be monitored.
This case must be appealed to SCOTUS which ruled in Oct ’22 that disregarding state law criteria is unconstitutional when it overturned a lower court ruling that allowed the counting of mis/undated ballots which went against the states election law.
If counting ballots that don’t meet state law requirements is unconstitutional, then so is the use of drop boxes that doesn’t meet state law requirements.
They say the drop boxes are for “absentee ballots”. These differ from “mail in ballots”. Both terms are used in this article interchangeably. Absentee are requested and therefore limited. With mail in, each voter is mailed a ballot.
Important difference. Articles like these are to confuse people into thinking mail in are absentee ballots.
The fact that they “elected” a liberal in 2023 that flipped the court tells me that Wisconsin is beyond hope in 2024.

The State Legislature has to vote about whether or not to have drop boxes and where the drop boxes can be placed:
Article 1, Section 4 of the Constitution: “The times, places, and manner for holding elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof, but the Congress may at any time by Law, make or alter such Regulations, except as to the places of choosing Senators.”
