Customers in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK can now buy Apple’s VR headset. It’s the second wave of international expansion, following China, Japan, and Singapore last month. When the headset launched in February, it was exclusive to the US.

Opera has asked the EU General Court to annul the European Commission’s decision not to designate Microsoft Edge as a gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act. Opera argues that Microsoft still makes it difficult to use an alternative browser and keeps treating its own browser “in a preferential way.” Microsoft is certainly using every trick in the book to keep Windows users on Edge.

1Password can now automatically generate scannable QR codes for Wi-Fi credentials, as reported by 9to5Mac, meaning you can easily get your friends connected to your network without revealing your punny Wi-Fi password.

I had to make a new entry for my Wi-Fi network in my 1Password account to get the QR code to show up.

The platform unverified profiles for two seemingly-fake iLounge writers that appear to be publishing AI-written content after we reached out for comment.

Muck Rack is also “developing a model that will identify and detect signs that are commonly found in fake authorship so we can flag potential AI writers to users,” spokesperson Linda Zebian tells The Verge.

If you’re a fan of Hallmark’s Christmas movies, that is: the company is launching a streaming service, Hallmark Plus, in mid-September, Deadline reports.

The service, which will cost $80 per year, will feature shows like Finding Mr. Christmas, a reality show where 10 men will compete to earn a role in a 2024 Hallmark holiday movie.

Microsoft announced an update to Edge’s clipboard allowing SVG files — space efficient vector images — to be copy and pasted into web apps without any complicated workarounds.

The company also contributed the updates to the open-source Chromium project so that other Chromium-based browsers can add streamlined SVG copying and pasting. Maybe Chrome will be next?

Players will be able to compete in over 150 brand new speed contests across a ton of Nintendo classics both online and locally.

A group of international enforcers including the US’s Federal Trade Commission evaluated 642 websites and apps offering subscriptions. They found that almost 76% used at least one potential dark pattern — design tricks meant to steer consumers to a desired outcome — and nearly 67% used more than one possible dark pattern. The most common dark pattern they found were “sneaking practices,” where sites hide or delay information that could sway a consumer’s decision.
