The Cook Government has labelled the $1.37 billion Yanchep rail extension a game-changer, saying it will transform the northern suburbs of Perth.

Ahead of Sunday’s opening of the line — a 14.5km rail extension from Butler and including three new train stations at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep — Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti lauded the project, saying it will benefit the 170,000 people expected to live along that corridor by 2046.
