The University of the Witwatersrand’s B-BBBEE Level 1 Entity, Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, is a hub where the incubation of startups and SMEs takes place and aims to create world-leading African digital entrepreneurs.

We provide startups and entrepreneurs with the tools and support they need to grow and scale their businesses through our industry-leading Enterprise Development Model that is focused on developing skills for the digital economy while unearthing digital start-ups and talent in Africa.

what we do

Working to boost Digital and Entrepreneurship Skills in South Africa

The Tshimologong Precinct is a digital innovation ecosystem in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, that propels entrepreneurship and grows the skills pipeline for the digital economy through collaboration with academia, corporates, government and entrepreneurs.

We provide skills and on-the-job training for unemployed youth while accelerating the growth of digital enterprises at every stage of their business and create a pathway for students and entrepreneurs to showcase their work publicly and access commercial opportunities.

Enterprise Development

In 2019 Lesego was a beneficiary of the Africa Rising programme. In 2018 Lesego and his team were struggling to move their business from idea stage to proof of concept and sought business coaching to develop a market-ready product. PAISA had no clients and an incomplete prototype and his team had grown despondent.

Skills Development

Lebohang Mofokeng enrolled in the Accenture/KLM Programme in October 2018. Lebohang lives with a congenital deformity of the hips and says that she felt discouraged before she joined the Skills Development Academy.

Mollo Animation Academy and Studio

From the Cave’s mouth, an animation short, produced by the Animation Academy has been selected to show at the Los Angeles Rocks International Film Festival (Lariff).
