At its heart, The CW‘s teen drama is a soap opera, so of course there are plenty of swoon-worthy romances and steamy hookups going on between the teens. (And their parents, too.) But this is Riverdale, so there are also hooded serial killers, and biker gangs, and mob bosses — and those things can really throw a wrench into the gears of a good relationship, you know.
So which of Riverdale‘s romantic pairings are meant to stand the test of time… and which are ultimately destined to flame out like Archie’s music career? (Sorry, Arch.) As a lifelong Archie comics reader, I balked when the showrunners said they’d be doing Betty/Jughead…..but what a great decision that was. They’re the best on the show.
I love Budhead but the back and forth got a bit annoying last season. I hope they are done with that.

It’s too late for Bughead even if they stop with the back and forth. We’ve seen all there is to see there. With Varchie as well. They’re as stale as it gets now, and we have seen them have sex, break up multiple times, say I love you… how many times? Where else can they go? They’re teenagers! I’m done with both Bughead and Varchie.
Bughead are irritating and Varchie just didn’t work for me in season 2.

I was completely takern by surprise at how much I am rooting for Betty and Jughead.. They have great chemistry, they seem to truly understand each other on a deeper level, and it’s such an interesting mix of worlds with them that it is fun to watch. But, I do find myself loving this FP/Alice thing and that could get complicated with the kids and all.

This comment makes no sense. How can you be asexual and homosexual? Or asexual and heterosexual? The comic book character was asexual and aromantic, which means he wasn’t sexually or romantically attracted to men or women. So, he’s not straight, gay, or bi.
This is not correct. If someone is asexual and aromantic (like Jughead is in the comics), they are not sexually or romantically attracted to anyone. Like JMK said, you can’t be gay/bi/straight if you aren’t sexually or romantically attracted to other people. All three of those labels rely on your attraction to other people.
And they didn’t make him asexual out of nowhere – he was never interested in dating at all. It was always a pretty big part of the character. While all of his friends were chasing girls or guys, he was actively avoiding dating altogether. He’s been calling dating girls “despicable” since the 40s/50s. They had storylines where suitors would chase him but he was completely disinterested, and there was even a storyline in the 60s where a group of girls formed a group (UGAJ) to get him interested in romance, but they failed. He was always firmly asexual/aromantic.
aromantic is different from asexual one deals with sexual feelings another with emotional feelings and you can be asexual and still be attracted to men or women and some asexuals do enter relationships

I really think Choni is the second largest fanbase. They always do well in twitter polls, even with large accounts with thousand of votes like tvguide and netflix. 6,000 to 9000 vote polls and Choni came in a healthy 2nd.

But, it’s hard to call them a couple. They had a near hookup, then that dead body popped. Kev didn’t want a closet boy. Then the whole Midge thing. They are yet to be a couple. I suspect S3 will be the season of koose.
Part of the whole Betty vs Veronica thing in the comics was that Archie would eventually end up alone with all that back and forth, with both Betty and Veronica moving on to someone better and more decisive. This Archie is the perfect Archie to live the same fate.

I voted for Alice and FP, because they have already been apart forever and had their drama, and they know it’s for real. All the teenagers will grow and change and will only love happily ever after because it’s TV.
Sorry… I may be in the minority here, but Bughead is far from my favorite! I couldn’t imagine them split but Cheryl and Toni would be My top pick followed by Fp and Alice.

I hope they do, the seeds have been planted and the hints are still there. Let’s wait and see. Bughead/Sprousehart are peaking right now, things will get better. Make sure to let the writers now you want to see Archie and Betty explored. They are aware of it and even mention it sometimes, but woth cult like fandoms like Bughead we need to keep reminding them. Don’t despair, I don’t think Archie and Betty’s story is over ;).
They’re already settled fully into these pairings because of the tumblr “ship” culture. Which is sad, it completely restricts romantic storytelling and just like PLL and Gossip Girl it will be the downfall, at least writing-wise
Agree totally. I hate that the CW does this- it’s killed at least two shows for me. They’re spineless because they’ll do anything to keep the ratings up. It’s sad, really. Most fans probably wouldn’t even bail if their ship sank, especially since the show is way bigger than any one ship (save for maybe Bughead), but I will leave if the purely sexual Varchie isn’t broken up soon. That said, FP + Alice ALL THE WAY.
This! I hope the writers have the guts to explore other options and don’t let Tumblr and twitter loud fangirls dictate their storytelling. Right now they’re yet to prove me wrong. So sick of the Bughead show.
