Good news, lovers of chaos: Murtaugh’s new partner in the upcoming third season of Fox‘s Lethal Weapon is just as much of a loose cannon as Riggs — possibly even more so. At least that’s what we’re gleaning from this brand-new promo, which gives us our first look at Seann William Scott‘s character in action.
For those just hearing about all of this for the first time, here’s some background: Clayne Crawford, who played Murtaugh’s partner Riggs during the Fox drama’s first two seasons, was fired after displaying hostile and violent behavior on set. Even after Crawford issued an apology for his actions, Warner Bros. decided not to renew his contract. The final nail in that coffin, so to speak, was ending Season 2 with Riggs being left for dead in the cemetery after taking a gunshot to the chest.
Of course, Wesley isn’t the only new face popping up on Lethal Weapon in Season 3. We’ll also meet Natalie Flynn (played by Psych‘s Maggie Lawson), Wesley’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child. Though the couple hasn’t been together in more than 10 years, Wesley apparently moves to Los Angeles in order to be closer to Natalie and their kid.
Hit PLAY on the new promo for Lethal Weapon‘s third season — premiering Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on Fox — above, then drop a comment with your thoughts, hopes and fears below.
rip lethal weapon, your show is toast.
no Clayne no watch
No Riggs, not interested
After Wayans diva behavior on Twitter trying to blame Crawford for all the issues on the show, I hope the show fails.
clayne NEVER denied anything. if you were called abusive wouldn’t you deny it?! If he didn’t do what they said, why would he go to counseling and give his paycheck to the crew?
I’m thankful he is gone. I was tired of his character and i hated his freaking dad! No more papa riggs makes me very happy
Thanks for the laugh, Leah. Problem still persists on the set, It’s definitely not Clayne.
Maybe we should talk about when it was stated that Damon Wayans manhandled Matt Miller.
How Damon Wayans blamed the crew for his accident and other things yet Clayne defended them.
but seems like you don’t know the full details.
i think it’s beocming increasingly clear that wayans is the one causing all sorts of drama, especially since almost a third of the crew was fired for voicing their support for clayne crawford, instead of backing up wayans.
it’s a shame, cause lethal weapon was a really fun show to watch. but it was clayne who had the magic and made it worth watching. i feel bad for sean william scott cause he seems to do a pretty good job. but they won’t be able to count on me anymore.
You’re math is awful. The minority of supporters somehow is a majority. I really liked Clayne in the roll and I’m bummed it didn’t work out but just because Wayans is a diva it doesn’t justify any of Clayne’s action, and it’s been proven he did bad things.
your ability to read is awful. none what you just wrote about me and my comment is something i actually said or didn’t say. i merely stated a third of the crew was fired for supporting crawford instead of wayne. i did not say they were the majority of the crew or anything along those lines.
i also did not state crawford is innocent. i merely said that wayans is far from innocent either, and anyone who takes one look at his twitter, or a very in-depth article another site wrote about all of the BTS drama from the past season, would agree.
there is no one named wayne. his name is Damon WAYANS!
Damon Wayans is the damn worse on set.
He manhandled Matt Miller.
Blamed crew cause he’s damn delusional about them hurting him, so Clayne defended the crew.
It’s been stated on other sites like reddit, full detail why Clayne lost his temper in one of leaks, how many hours they worked that led up to those issue.
People call Clayne the ass, but people should know Damon Wayans isn’t innocent as people like to think.
Clayne was also right about working conditions on set, this week there has been two accidents happened on set.
WTF is he’s name….!!
I say this as a techie myself: good riddance to that one-third of the crew.
it’s the landscape of the day, they had to back Wayans or they would be called racist regardless of his actions behind the scenes
Are you kidding me? Nobody should be forced to feel unsafe at work. I’m glad Warner Bros made the right decision, not just the decision which would make them the most money.
That’s quite ignorant, Jay.
There’s has been two accidents happened on set thus far this week.
To be honest they should have cancelled the show, problem still persists on the set.
Crew claimed this show is cursed, I can see why.
What an ignorant thing to say.
So they’re trying to keep it the same show with a new guy. Couldn’t not even try to make him a little different. (And I see nothing that indicates he’s more of a loose cannon)
They have to… It’s called Lethal Weapon. You have to have a loose cannon to Murtaugh’s straight lace family man. The question will be how loose of a cannon this one will be…
They’ve already come put stating he will be less gung ho about shooting people and more about trying to talk to them before resorting to violence. They have previously stated that the center of the show was always the murtaugh family and they were going to focus more on that.
That was the worst green screen on top of that truck…
Yep!
People should learn from JJ Abrams. He shoots green screen plates for sunny locations outside because actual sunlight can’t be replicated accurately inside. A simple trick that avoids such bad shots.
Not bad, from what I can say after such a short clip. The third movie is my favorite and between the chase on top of the truck in a uniform and the boat, I like the throwback and fun vibe. No glaring absence of chemistry. I’ll definitely watch the premiere.
I’m in! :D
I’ll still watch. I don’t want to punish a show and the rest of the people working there. The network did the right thing if he was that terrible on set. And I’m inclined to think he was – Crawford is a fantastic actor, really the only critically recieved element of the show. The network wouldn’t get rid of that unless it had to.
The insurance company would not insure him, so there was no other choice. The two were the most brilliant acting duo in the history of TV, but great art takes great emotion. The insurance companies do not like [fill in your blank] and or whatever calculates risk, I guess. We were all lucky for those two years. The firing of crew was stupid. They made a great team.
Ahhh good to know about the insurance. That’s some cold business right there. Where did you find out about the insurance issue?
The information was given during the coverage on the Variety website. There was a note saying that had happened, which was its own image. Then, there were LOTS of articles after that, but it was all over by the insurance co not wanting to insure C. I can’t find the image, now, but it was also mentioned in a tweet which was mentioned in articles etc…sigh…they were brilliant together…maybe someday, again.
Problem still persists on set,
accidents are still happening left and right.
If anything they fired the wrong actor, It was stated Damon Wayans manhandled Matt Miller, if he’s capable of that then we don’t know the full story behind the scenes, but obviously Clayne wasn’t the issue here in most cases.
The only thing I’ve seen about him being uninsurable was on Damon wayan’s Twitter where he also claimed Clayne hit him on purpose with shrapnel and that there were flyers about Clayne being an emotional terrorist. Literally no one else saw that flyer. Dozens of cast, crew, and former costars have defended him. Many of them came and guest starred on LW. If he were such a monster why would they do that? And why would they let him direct?
Stifler? I’m there
Sorry no I am not Sorry will not be watching without Riggs
Waste of money making another season. The show killed itself off at the end of last season. Now, will this get cancelled before The Connors is the only question left.
I’m watching The Flash instead.
It’s as if the show has finally cast Riggs for real.
Wow, this just looks horrible.
Can’t replace Clayne Crawford!!!! Don’t think I will be watching anymore, it’s sad because I loved that show, thankfully I have some on my DVR that I can watch over and over again 😤
Then I guess he should not have acted the way he did. Its all Crawfords fault.
I definitely won’t be watching. Especially not after Wayan’s diva like behavior on twitter. Playing the race card, faking being hacked to cover up his comments, telling fans to lick the crack of his black ass…. and so on. I have no respect for him at all anymore. I do like Scott though. But he is not enough to make me watch this show anymore.
I think both Damon Wayans and Sara Gilbert should update their resumes and keep them handy.
Will be a disaster without clayne crawford
Here to continue to support Clayne! Not watching the reboot!
Should have ended last season if they couldn’t work it out with Crawford. Won’t be watching.
This looks terrible. The entire concept of the show revolved around the character of “Riggs”…the de facto “Lethal Weapon”. Kill off Riggs or remove his character from the show and you are left with a shell that has no foundation. The studio should have found a workable compromise, anger management, life coach, 24hr minder, etc., or let the show end. Wayans schtick isn’t enough to carry an hour long action/dramedy.
Can’t be Lethal Weapon without Riggs.Change the name. Won’t be watching. Show will not make it.. Shame.
I will give this season a chance. I think there’s a good shot this show can recover.
