Emma Roberts Exits Cast of Netflix Figure Skating Drama Spinning Out
Emma Roberts is unlacing her skates: The American Horror Story star has exited the cast of Netflix‘s upcoming figure skating drama Spinning Out, less than a month after signing on to star.
Our sister site Deadline reports that Roberts’ exit is due to a scheduling conflict with another project of hers — which may be another TV series that’s yet to be announced. Spinning Out will continue on at Netflix, though, with Roberts’ role being recast. (Lily Collins is said to be in negotiations to step in as the new series lead.)
Roberts was to play Kat Baker, an “up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track.” But she finds a way “to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner.” Mr. Mercedes writer Samantha Stratton wrote the pilot script, and will serve as co-showrunner/executive producer on the 10-episode drama, along with Lara Olsen (90210, Reign).
Reprising her role as witch Madison Montgomery in this fall’s American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Roberts is a veteran of four AHS seasons so far. She also starred in Fox’s horror comedy Scream Queens, which got the axe in 2016 following a two-season run.

I have a feeling Ryan Murphy has cast her in one of his upcoming Netflix shows. I still wish for a Scream Queens revival on Netflix but it’s never gonna happen

Um isn’t this the exact plot of Cutting Edge? Or even Cutting Edge 2?
I wonder if we will see any former Olympic level skaters turned TV/social media personalities such as Adam Rippon, Sasha Cohen or Ashley Wagner making an appearance. Wagner could have been believable as Roberts’ SIngles Skating Double..
I missed the seasons she was on American Horror story, I’ve only seen part of season one and started watching again during the Hotel season, but I must say she is the highlight of this season. Her and the guy she went to murder house with are hilarious. The next season of American Horror Story should be about their characters. I have a feeling he doesn’t make it though since he wasn’t with the witches when they come back after the Apocalypse. Of course her character was dead too so that can be fixed.

You really need to watch Scream Queens. Her character there is not a witch but even more of a bitch, and it’s hilarious.

At 27, she’s at least 10 to 12 years too old for up and coming.
