Cloak & Dagger EP Talks Tandy and Tyrone’s ‘Exciting’ Finale Moment, Previews New Direction for Season 3
Spoiler alert: The following article reveals the events of Cloak & Dagger‘s second season finale. Proceed at your own risk.
Sure, Tandy and Tyrone managed to defeat Andre, save the people of New Orleans and conquer their own personal demons in Thursday’s Cloak & Dagger finale, but right now, there’s only thing we want to talk about: they held hands!
“You should read into that as much as you possibly can,” showrunner Joe Pokaski tells TVLine. “What the writers and I wanted to create was a bit of a Rorschach test for the audience. It’s exciting in this day and age to work on a show for 20 episodes where holding hands is the thing that people will get excited about. The best we can say is that this is the opening of a door of a question that a lot of people have been asking.”
The big moment came in the episode’s final minutes, as Tandy and Tyrone were headed out of town on a bus, en route to some lives in need of saving.
“Season 3 is about Tandy and Tyrone running into danger and looking for trouble, instead of waiting for trouble to come to their front door,” Pokaski says, clarifying that a third season has not officially been ordered. “And when you’re telling a coming-of-age story, part of that is traveling, seeing yourself in a different context and getting a different perspective on who you are.”
And although Pokaski acknowledges that the characters’ struggles will continue (“Tyrone is still going to experience life as a young black man in America, which won’t be easy”), the goal was for Tandy and Tyrone to properly “process” the fears that have been holding them back.

I love a slow burn relationship, so I hope they just continue to be best friends while being cute next season. I love their abilities but sometimes I think it gets too trippy and weird and it’s hard to stay engaged in wherever they are inside Ty’s hoodie. But I’m excited to see where they end up on their roadtrip. Hoping for New York!
they’re definitely not heading to NY – at least not right away – more likely it’ll be Los Angeles (or who knows could be a surprise and possibly they’re heading to Miami or even Texas) — but most likely Los Angeles as the last line about girls on beaches is definitely a reference to The Runaways (on Hulu) –

Runaways was about dead girls found washed up on beaches.

I’m excited to see where they’re headed off to… NY and LA are two spots they’ve been in.. In the comics I think.. Plus LA keeps hope alive for a Runaways crossover.. Them holding hands was pretty big.. The two of them jump off the screen with just the way they look at each other… Especially if its just one looking while the other is staring off somewhere… The show and the actors have done a good job of putting two obviously attractive teens in front of each other and still didn’t hit us over the head with them eventually pairing up.. Even if we all knew it was gonna happen
They also originally came from chigaco so theres that.
Was it already renewed for S3?
No news yet. it aired later in the summer last year so that renewal was right at SDCC, this is different. Though it took a few months for Runaways to be officially renewed as well.
no yet – but how can they possibly NOT renew the show – it would be like a dagger thru the heart of fans (pun intended)
Shouldn’t all the Marvel TV shows be taking place in the 5 years post-snap when society was falling apart?
Not really. This show started in 2017 and it’s only been 8 months to the characters. So early 2018 at the latest while the snap was around late spring/early summer. It’s been the company line to mostly say the shows are “all before” The Snap such as Netflix’s bunch; though SHIELD kinda fell through the cracks having the first part of IF be directly referenced at the end of S5 but ignoring it now “one year later” in S6.
There’s allegedly a lot of tension between the heads of Marvel Studios and Marvel Television and despite the SHIELD writers saying they have a complex internal explanation, for the most part it seems to look like they just weren’t told about the movie plans and are ignoring the snap altogether. And/or SHIELD is now in it’s own different timeline like the alternates we saw in Endgame.
Or if you can believe Mysterio in the Far From Home trailer, a parallel earth situation like in The Flash might be going on.
no for a few reasons
1 – Marvel has already said pretty much all the current shows are just taking place before the snap
2 – all the Netflix shows have been taking place about 1.5 years BEHIND the present of the films storylines – Daredevil season one set the time period for all the Netflix shows – so none of the the Defenders shows took place in the years the different seasons were released
3 – the other MCU shows – Runaways & Cloak & Dagger – have made no mention of WHEN the stories took place … until the recent episode of C&D – when Luke Cage was mentioned … which there by puts the entire storyline in the past – same as the Defenders
Runaways hasn’t has had any crossover elements to any other MCU shows or films – literally zero – not even mentioning any of the Avengers, etc
it all takes place in the MCU but just no mentions yet
4 – AOS is the only MCU show that has a timeline “issue” but will likely be addressed eventually over the summer … OR more likely in Season 7

In relation to point 3 – I’m pretty sure Tony Stark gets mentioned at one point in Season 1, and how could you possibly miss the giant Doctor Strange crossover/reference in Season 2? Roxxon also gets a reference in season 2. WHiH news exists in Runaways and Iron Man. AND for a bit of Black Panther connectivity – Wakanda gets a shoutout in Season 2.
I need a renewal! Come on Freeform! Or Hulu (which would make a Runaways crossover easier). Someone!
Wish there come out with s3 soon
I thought this season was dull and honestly some of the episodes were just dumb. I enjoyed season one, season two not so much. If it gets renewed great, if not, no tears.
I agree with you, the season story arc was pretty cliched and that record store construct was abysmally labored and stupid. Season 2 seemed like a big miss on the potential of the dynamics, characterization and the cast out of season 1.

Something about cloak and dagger makes me LOVE IT! Every episode gets me excited and getty for all that can come. I did not find it boring dumb or stupid, in fact, I was intrigued by it all… especially the ending. So honestly I was not reading that deep into them holding hands. I thought (because so far its never been anything) that them holding hands was in a friendly way. but after reading a couple of articles I definitely think that was them starting to get romantic. I ship them 100%!! and I don’t even need marvel to has a ton of sex scenes between them just simply cute things would be all I am asking for. I do think it’ll take a few episodes before they get serious serious just cause it has been slow this entire series. I also like the idea of them leaving New Orleans for a little, I hadn’t thought of it til they were on the bus but i dont impose of it. I am so ready for season 3, pls pls renew.
I really love this show and I really like Tyrone and Tandy together. Really good relationship building. Can’t wait for more episodes. Really liked each episode.
This wasn’t the first time they held hands.
It was the first time without a huge explosion or outburst of power lol.
I’ve watched all the marvel tv shows and some of them have Rocky starts in their first season or lack of action and character development but Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger was an amazing show with heart warming jaw dropping and flat out shocking moments from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite series on television.
I literally busted out crying at them holding hands. I’ve been waiting for this forever! I really hope they renew for season 3 although I found this season confusing I am still in love with the show itself and cannot wait for them to be a couple so I really hope it’s coming
