DC Comics fans just got an unexpected surprise… from the unlikeliest of places.
Zach Snyder’s long-awaited director’s cut of Justice League, aka the #SnyderCut, is due to hit HBO Max next week, but it accidentally leaked on the streamer early on Monday, with multiple users reporting that when they tried to press play on the new Tom & Jerry movie, the Snyder Cut of Justice League began playing instead. (One viewer, Doug Bass, tells our sister site Variety that he got an hour into the film before it stopped and he received an error message.)
“Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max, and the error was addressed within minutes,” a spokesman for the streamer confirmed in a statement to TVLine.
Justice League — an Avengers-style superhero team-up featuring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman, among others — first hit theaters in 2017, with Joss Whedon taking over as director after Snyder stepped away during post-production due to the death of his daughter. Whedon ordered months of reshoots, and Justice League eventually debuted to mixed reviews and disappointing box office.
But rumors of a “Snyder Cut” lingered for years, and HBO Max finally confirmed last year that Snyder’s version of the film would indeed see the light of day on the new streaming service. The new, four-hour-long (!) version of Justice League will officially premiere on HBO Max next Thursday, March 18.
Hahahaha this is so wild
As someone who works in the marketing field…nothing “leaks”
Not involved in this project, but just saying…
I bet you don’t work in the marketing field.
Stuff does leak though.
Ha, man, if were going to lie about something I’d lie about having a much cooler job, I wouldn’t pretend to just be in the marketing field lmao.
And sure things can leak, especially when multiple companies are involved. However, things like this don’t leak. Trust me, you’d be surprise by the amount of tricks companies have up their sleeves just to get people talking. I mean it is literally part of our jobs to study what starts conversations online and on social media.
Right?!? And loaded as the new Tom & Jerry movie? I’d understand if people accidentally found it when they tried to watch the current version of the JL movie on the app, but under the live-action movie they just premiered last week? Very sneaky, sis…
I don’t even need to be involved in marketing to know this was on purpose lol. They’re trying to build as much hype around this movie as possible. A “leak”. Right. Lol
True, does it make it to the news otherwise, even if I tell my friends on Facebook it isn’t going to be a newsmsking story that I saw jla instead of tom and Jerry, also it streaming so how do the wires get crossed on this one, what is t hff e complaints….my netflix account breaks not a newsstory
Pretty much what I suspected when I first heard about this lol
I love DC so much, but this looked awful from the clips on Twitter.
Bruh, why you lying? lol the clips and trailer looks amazing. keep it real.
Is wonderwoman wearing heels? Watched the movie and I have never particularly noticed her footwear. Guess heels seem impractical for fighting but she does have superpowers so balancing etc may not be an issue.
yes. that was one of the criticisms of the first WW
“Justice League — an Avengers-style superhero team-up”
Ahem, the Justice League of America preceded the Avengers by three years in the comics, thank you very much.
The vast majority of people do not care when they were introduced in the comics, The Avengers has clearly set the modern standard for “this type” of team of heroes from different backgrounds coming together to fight a world threatening foe.
You mean the new Justice League movie comes on next Thursday because that is the 18th of March because next Wednesday is the 17th of March
it always annoys me when people refer to Justice League as “DC’s version of Avengers” or “Avenger’s style superhero team-up”, when the original Justice League comics was actually released BEFORE Avengers, so JL actually came first, and then Marvel actually copied DC with their own Avengers team. I know this article is referring to the movies and not the comics, and the Avengers movies came before the JL movie, but because of this reason many people have this misconception that JL is merely a “DC copy of Avengers”, when the fact is it’s actually the other way round.
Anyway I can’t wait to watch Zack Snyder’s JL, Joss Whedon got rid of about 80% of everything Zack filmed and created and he basically changed everything from the dialogues to the costumes, and he reshot almost all the scenes and we ended up with the crap that Whedon made. This Zack version is actually the original version with all the original footages and content that Zack had filmed that were never used in Whedon’s version, it will contain at least 3 hours worth of unseen footage, so it’s like a completely different movie.
