MacGyver Season 6 Would Have Delivered a Baby — Get Details
MacGyver would have had to find a way to secure a diaper using paper clips, had CBS decided to order a sixth season of the procedural.
During what I will call “Part 1” of TVLine’s in-depth series finale post mortem, showrunner Monica Macer shared that — building off of seeds planted in Season 5’s quarantine and Indian wedding episodes — Season 6 would have served up a “big, Romancing the Stone-like treasure hunt” in which Russ (Henry Ian Cusick), Mac (Lucas Till) and Bozer (Justin Hires) chase after long-lost Incan loot.
The three men, however, would bump into Sofia Walker (Russ’ longtime sometime fling, played by Holby City‘s Camilla Arfwedson), who is also after the treasure — and ultimately Russ and Sofia partner up on the hunt (and in other ways).
Amidst all the derring-do, Russ and Sofia “were going to have a little tryst that was ultimately going to end up with Sofia getting pregnant and Russ becoming a father,” Macer tells TVLine. “That was sort of the long game that we were playing” by introducing Sofia midway through Season 5.
Of course, when a show has a baby on board and multiple men on hand, you can usually count on a spin on the classic film comedy starring Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg.
With Russ becoming an undoubtedly flustered new father, “we could do our Three Men and a Baby episode, with Russ, Mac and Bozer, in the future,” Macer shares.

I think they should have given fans a short final season(10-12 episodes) for the fall season.
This was that. Show has been over since Jack left. Those first two seasons were a lot of fun as well as action. After Jack left, the fun part was gone.
To each their own. I thought Jack was a childish douche and was relieved to see his character gone.

For a character that didn’t want to use a gun, Jack was a lazy writer’s shortcut to giving Mac a gun while keeping his hands “clean”.
MacGyver 2.0 was too mopey. There was also the issue of woke-ness in the writing. Not that it’s bad to be woke, it’s just bad to look more like a checklist than a script. (see also, Batwoman)
The paper thin characterization was exemplified by the paperclips. When was the last time he touched the bowl of clips? It was all window dressing and set decor.
Agree. The chemistry between jack and mac made the show. After he left it got to much into relationships and mac wasn’t ever doing mac things. It srarted getting boring. If they went back to what ot once was…
The show lost episodes from last season and this season because of the pandemic. It would have surpassed 100 episodes for it’s run if it hadn’t.

I wish if MacGyver would continue on with a few more seasons, CBSdis wrong, and no matter what they say, it was unfair to cancel the show. Other shows that are not even as good as MacGyver are still on air.

The more they talk about what would have come the more I realize that I would’ve been done after this season. The last season and a half were…not good. And the proposed future seems like it would have been even worse.

I was very disappointed when Jack left the show. However, I persevered and continued watching. Levy Tran was not a believable character replacement for Jack and all the tattoos were more suitable for employment at a carnival. In spite of it all the show was a 3 on scale of 5
I agree. My husband thinks that also. Too many tattoos makes a person look ugly. I am not against them, but not exactly for them either. With Tran, that is all you see. Even when she wore dresses, it is the same. Dresses are made to look nice and enhance a woman’s beauty. Tran did not have it and they could have found a suitable replacement if they really looked. Tran wasn’t.
Macgyver gets canceled such a nice shows and the Conners such a garbage gets renewed all this cancelations makes we don’t watch cable and by new movies in amazon

I don’t understand why you’re cancelling macgyver it’s a good show it’s kind of ridiculous there’s not too many shows that are good anymore but why am I not surprised CbS does that a lot
Glad it was cancelled then, babies ruin TV shows, Bones so went downhill when they added babies into the mix.
I agree on the babies part, but only partially. Bones definitely went downhill after Hank was born. I also think adding an unplanned pregnancy to a show is one thing but making a Three Men and a Baby episode is kind of stupid if you ask me. I mean consider the fact that all three are secret agents and their jobs are extremely dangerous. It seems a bit off kilter for this type of show. Russ as a father I would have loved to have seen but in my experience I’m trying not get my hopes up that MacGyver will get a season 6, but we’ll see.
Shame CBS aren’t into making TV movie specials too round things off

This show should never have been cancelled. Boo to CBS. But yes the show lost a lot at the departure of Jack. And the addition and romance of Levy Tran. No thank you. That never fit for me. I did love the show but it lost a lot without Jack. I hope some other network will pick it up and bring back Jack or someone character like him and lose the Desi Nguyen character completely.
I am really going tk miss th show. Wanted to see Mac propose to Dezi. She is a kick butt no nonsense type of woman. They make a good couple. Also wanted to see Riley bring in her new team th Brink in on more episode’s. And give Bozer a good storyline. Just hate there canceling th show I love it
I am am still ticked off that Mac and friends won’t be around any longer. Any chance another network (i.e., Netflix, Amazon, CW, etc. might pick it up? Want it continued.

It seems odd that they cancelled it after Till and the others came forward against 2 lCBS execs who committed wrongdoings and were fired!
This….i sense the cancellation was more about politics and less about ratings.
Really hope the show is picked up for another season or two elsewhere.Was waiting on Macriley to get together since Season 1 and i miss Jack.His replacement never jelled with me and Desi’s relationship with Mac should have ended after season 4 as it never worked.She tried to kill him for heaven’s sake….

I could do w/o the MacRiley romance . To me they were much better off as brother and sister, . If it ever gets picked up I hope that part never happens.
