The Anjin says, “Shōgun was a big winner at the 40th annual Television Critics Association Awards,” which were held on Friday night at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena.

Wendi McLendon-Covey of The Goldbergs and NBC’s upcoming comedy St. Denis Medical served as host of the first in-person TCA Awards ceremony since 2019.

Shōgun, FX’s acclaimed adaptation of James Clavell’s doorstop of a novel, collected four total TCA Awards, including for actress Anna Sawai and the prestigious Program of the Year.

Max’s Hacks also won TCA Awards in multiple categories, for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy and actress Jean Smart.

“It was a year of brilliant television, from an epic historical drama to a harrowing documentary,” TCA president Jacqueline Cutler said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to honor all who created these shows, often against great odds, as many were worked on during the pandemic and stopped for the strikes. Congratulations to all of the winners.”
