As if Yellowstone could really come to an end just when Beth got Jamie exactly where she wants him — well, short of the grave, anyway. Taylor Sheridan’s hit drama has officially rustled up a Season 5 renewal, Paramount Network announced Thursday.

Even before the pickup was official, it was a fait accompli. The Season 4 finale was up 81 percent in total viewers over Season 3’s ender, making it the most-watched cable telecast since The Walking Dead’s Season 8 premiere. Our sister site Deadline reported that Yellowstone would be rounding up its cast to begin shooting Season 5 in May (which Paramount Network confirmed Thursday). And all the way back in March of 2021, Cole Hauser, who plays badass ranch hand Rip, said during an episode of Virtual Happy Hour that “Season 5 is going to be wonderful. The way Season 4 ends… you’ll be happily surprised with a lot of things.”
Viewers will recall that in January’s Season 4 finale (recapped in full here), Beth shocked fiancé Rip with an impromptu wedding before running off to blackmail adopted brother Jamie into committing patricide. Meanwhile, John strong-armed a judge into lessening Summer’s sentence to eight months, Kayce saw a vision of “the end” of him and Monica, and Jimmy chose Emily and the Four Sixes over Mia and the Yellowstone.
Speaking of Emily, Kathryn Kelly, the Nashville vet who plays Jimmy’s newly minted fiancée, has been upped to series-regular status along with Jen Landon, who’s entering her third season as marble-mouthed ranch hand Teeter.
In announcing the renewal, ViacomCBS Media Networks CEO Chris McCarthy said that “Yellowstone’s record-breaking performance proves we’ve tapped a cultural nerve and unleashed a passionate audience from the center of the country to each of the coasts. Kevin Costner leads our incredible cast who make the Duttons America’s favorite family, and this new season is sure to be another one fans won’t want to miss.”
So, now that we know-know we’re getting a Season 5, what do you most want to see happen? Hit the comments with your predictions, hopes and fears.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! So happy that it’s been renewed!
This has to be the easiest decision any network will have in renewing shows for another season.
In the real world how would a guy like Jimmy get two gals like that?
I’m the actor’s age myself, have almost as much grace with women as Jimmy, (but more hair), and it comes down to not being a dick. I’ve had luck with some attractive women in my life.
Jimmy stands out from the “tough guys” around him, be he in Texas or Montana. That’s going to make him unique and frankly women in that environment will either be totally turned off or attracted to it.
The same has worked for me, although I’m not in the cowboy world. But even in workplaces where people just were desperately hanging onto the college years at 25, I could be the same age as everyone or even younger than some of the “party people” and not playing that game gave me an edge over guys they thought just wanted to “get in, get off, get out”.
It’s because he was a bad guy turned good so we should be rewarded
When does four 6s hit, & paramount or paramount+ ? Will we see Jimmie again b4 4 6s starts.
I think Jimmy will be a part of the inception of four sixes and then will return to Yellowstone.
Love this!! It shouldn’t be any surprise with the ratings & storyline.
Rip is my all time fav, next is Kevin- looking so good.
I would like to see what Beth does to Jamie.
Beth/Jamie has always been an issue, and you can be assured that their story will be one on the main interests of Yellowstone now that she definitely has him were she wants him.
I would like to see more character development and fewer side stories that don’t get wrapped up. More of the impact on the residents of the reservation and how they will fight the development of the land. I would like to see less of the horses running full speed then suddenly stopping and horses going round and round in circles. I think S3 did a much better job in developing the story than S4, so go back to that formula.
I love the horses, but you are right- too may horse shows and not enough solid content
Taylor writes a good story but his female character developement is shallow and shows women in a very poor light
Glad howver for the new season
Those horses are AMAZING as well as their real life cowboy handlers. Please give us more!!
I hope it has the excitement of Season 3. Season 4 just didn’t make it for me. After season 4 ended, I really didn’t care if I watched it anymore. I hope the long ads for 1883 will be gone and no more added. That was so annoying.
Here’s to a better Season in 2022 !!
Love the show looking forward to 22. I totally agree with Cindy.
Confused. I thought Jimmy and his fiancée moved to TX for the 6666 show… and she’s a series regular on Yellowstone now?
I wish it was 5th and final* season. The direction of each character’s plot is terrible. There’s no redemption for Beth and Jamie meanwhile Kayce is being pushed to a new romance (?) at the cost of his traumatized son and wife. I understand now why this show doesn’t get much love in the award shows.
Wish in one hand, poop in the other.
Or, you know, just stop watching there big shooter.
🤣🤣🤣
PLEASE DON’T WATCH!
Shut upTsutsui just turn the channel and watch something else….
Kayce and his wife have annoyed me from start. He should have just stayed on the reservation. I don’t think they have worked well together at all so, it is pretty obvious they wouldn’t last. RIP is my favorite. Scary as heck but loyal to a fault. Beth is a badass and I hope Jaime is done sooner rather than later. At this point it is just going to happen.
I’m happy the actors will still have jobs. This is not reality tv. For those who don’t want to see another season just turn the TV off or watch something else don’t ruin it for the rest of us. I love how outrageous the show is and can sleep at night knowing that everyone gets up wipes off the fake blood and goes home.
Love this show and 1883. It’s great to have a show that isn’t a “Reality-based piece of smut.” No matter how disfunctional the Duttons are in the end they rally together as family.
THank you for renewing another season, we’ll be watching till the end.
Please don’t spoil it by allowing it to drag on to long. At the moment it’s a brilliant series. But think it should end before much longer.
That’s just your opinion everybody else wants it seasons to go on
Hope Casey and Monica don’t split and become more involved with Duttons.
I am so over Monica. It’s almost comical how fast they recovered from their “trauma” once they drove away. Not liking her or the kid. He never even said goodbye to Grandpa John! (Thought they were getting close) then they buy a house off property?!
Yes it’s sad that Beth can’t have any kids but she needs to stop blaming Jamie it was not his fault and responsible she needs to look at the big picture and relaze that she went to Jamie for help she’s also the blame
Yes Beth went to Jaimie for help, but he knew and didn’t tell her that she would be sterilized.
Don’t want to see Kayce and Monica end, especially since she’s pregnant. I don’t like the storyline of Summer. And I’m very happy Top and Beth are finally together.
Well, I believe that something will happen to Jamie and his girlfriend. John will have to do something pretty big to keep Beth out of prison, and Beth and Rip will end up with Jamie’s son, and Carter.. Now if this is the last season, John will make a deal with the Indians , which will be the big move. They will combine season 5 into Yellowstone 6666, just a thought
My thoughts are the same – I think John D is trying to preserve the land more so than ranching/cattle and if that is true then the only way to preserve the land from developers is to return it to whom it belongs.
I can’t wait for the next season. Love it love it
Don’t want to see it ever end. Fantastic writing and acting. So exhilarating to watch a great show without feeling insulted by profanity, unneeded sex scenes, and excessive displays of blood letting. My favorite actor is RIP. He’s a blast. All though I must admit that everyone is doing a fantastic job. Amazing job on the part of the casting director. I must repeat myself about the exemplary writing. Thank you.
I would like to see Rip, Beth, and boy stay together as a family.
I would love to see them adopt the boy.
Yay more Teeter!!
Love Teeter, she is my alter ego.
I’m a Kevin Costner fan and a western fan. I have yet to pull the trigger on this show to watch it. Is it anything like Dallas? Not dissing Dallas, but I more than got my fill of that sort growing up in the 80’s.
It is not anything like Dallas. Well that is my thoughts. I have watched both and I would say Yellowstone is not as campy as Dallas.
i wanna see Beth and the family recognize that Jamie was just a kid when he took Beth to tragically end her pregnancy and cause her to be sterile ; she initiated the whole thing and jamie just did what he thought was right to “protect the family name”. it was all so horrible but not entirely his fault. i wanna see beth and jamie make up.
Best decision ever!!!! Was there ever any doubt?
We’ve watched all yellowstone so far & are looking forward to season 5. I’m wishing Beth & Jamie would learn to get along better.
Get rid of Casey’s wife. I can’t stand her. Beth can’t touch Jamie because he has dirt on the family for murder. What comes around goes around.
Loving Yellowstone ❤ Family and friends watching 👀 Die hard fan 🧡 Eagerly waiting for Season 5 😃 plus 1883 & 6666
