It’s official: Young Sheldon‘s Georgie and Mandy are headed for a wedding.
Thursday’s episode of the Big Bang Theory prequel culminated in CeeCee’s parents’ decision to forgo a church wedding and tie the knot down at City Hall. Their minds were made up once Mary and Audrey went behind their backs and each had CeeCee secretly baptized — first as Baptist (with an assist from Pastor Jeff) and later as Catholic — without consulting them first.
Initially, Georgie didn’t see the issue. It made their mothers happy, so what does it matter… right? But by episode’s end, he learned his lesson. “I think Georgie finally figured out happy wife, happy life,” series star Montana Jordan tells TVLine.
Part 3 of our Q&A with Jordan and Emily Osment delves further into Season 7, Episode 6 — “Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning” — including why Osment thinks Georgie and Mandy work as a couple.
“Mandy is high strung,” Osment posits. “She cares a lot about the way her child is treated, and what religion her child is going to be, and are we making the right decisions? And then on the other side of it, you have Georgie saying ‘It’s going to make these people happy. It doesn’t really matter at the end of the day,’ and that’s a really nice balance to have in a relationship.”
As previously reported, Jordan and Osment will headline an as-yet-untitled Young Sheldon spinoff for CBS, which will premiere during the 2024-25 broadcast season. Ahead of their characters’ wedding on Thursday, April 11, the fan-favorite duo sat down with TVLine for their first interview about the highly anticipated offshoot, and to reminisce about their favorite Georgie and Mandy moments.
New episodes of Young Sheldon air Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS (and stream next day on Paramount+). Its one-hour series finale is slated for May 16.
I think this was my favorite episode of the season so far
I have to vent somewhere but there is no way a Baptist Pastor would participate in an infant baptism and he would
also not just splash water on the child’s head it would be total immersion. Baptist and Catholic theology surrounding the purpose and form of baptism are totally different and for a Baptist splashing some water on an infants head would be meaningless and as devoted a member as Mary would understand this.
Love this show broke my heart when they said it was the last season they always do this to
good shows. Thanks for all the fun.
Neither of them had a right to baptise that baby behind the parents backs that’s the problem I have with marry she really is the epitome of a bad religious person. Forcing her beliefs on everyone. Other than that I love this show.
The Competing Baptisms was funny, not Theological but funny. Kinda glad the moms are getting “consequences” of not coming to the wedding. I’m sad if Missy doesn’t get to go to the wedding. She didn’t do anything wrong and she has really been there for Mandy and Georgie.
I know this episode is less about Sheldon, but nice parallels with the upgrading of his computer without his permission. Well done.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the preview of next week’s episode show Mandy & Georgie getting married, and both mothers and their families were there? Where are the “consequences”?
No church wedding?
