The Khan was on… a rampage, as Blood & Treasure Season 2 came to a close this Sunday on Paramount+. Was the season finale “very satisfying” as promised? And what’s the latest word on a possible Season 3?
The finale opened with Danny, Lexi, Chuck and Shaw laboring to convince the Superintendent at the Hong Kong PD that arrested Simon Hardwick is in fact not the Great Khan, and that the true villain is still out there and about to storm the building/seize the spirit banner. Oh, and she has an underground nuke ready to detonate/kill millions! The Superintendent chose to play it safe and not let this quartet of “Westerners” get in harm’s way, so he locked them up in the basement.
Luckily, Danny uncovered a boarded-up set of stairs, and the four made a run for it just as Violet and her goons infiltrated the PD and started shooting/fwip!ping cops dead, after plunging the city into a blackout. But by the time Violet got to the vault holding the banner, it was gone — pinched by a gloating Simon.
Simon eventually turned the banner back over to Violet, as he scampered off to co-opt her getaway plan. Danny and Lexi went after Violet, while Shaw and Chuck headed to (somehow!) deal with the nuke. But when Shaw got surrounded by a band of baddies, he sent Chuck ahead to do his best with the bomb. Chuck was understandably stymied upon finding the device, but he apparently had juuuust enough of a cell signal to receive a link to a “How To” video sent by Shaw — though it paused/started buffering at the worst possible moment!
Danny and Lexi chased Violet to the rooftop helipad where she had hoped to get flown to freedom, but Simon had bribed/made use of her pilot first. A two-on-one melee ensued, with Violet trading blows with both Danny and Lexi, and all with the nuke detonator being bandied about. Violet eventually got the upper hand on Danny and put several bullets into him. As he slumped to the ground, Violet pinned down Lexi and pummeled her former gal pal. But wounded Danny got Violet’s attention by waving around the detonator, distracting her long enough for Lexi to sneak up and gut her from behind with the pointed end of the Spirit Banner. Battered Lexi then raced to Danny’s side, where she suggested that their commingled blood is seen in some cultures as a form of marriage, and they exchanged “I do’s.”
In a “Happily Ever After”-ish epilogue…. We saw Danny successfully petition a judge to pardon all of “Shaw” aka Dwayne Coleman’s illegal past actions, leading to a joyous reunion between Dwayne and his family. Danny, Lexi and Chuck then got flagged down by a lawyer for the Reece estate, who came bearing 1) the family copy of Kate’s CIA Memorial Wall star, for Chuck, and 2) an eye-popping trust that Jacob had bequeathed to Danny. Chuck (now a Vatican Intelligence member?) then disclosed that though the banner had been reclaimed, $10 million of the stolen money “inside” it had gone missing. We then see a mostly shaven Simon pull up to a bank in Costa Rica to deposit a bag full of cash. When asked what he does for a living, Simon says, “I find things,” as we note that he’s holding a map to… something.
Will fans ever learn what Simon is after next, and where that will take “newlyweds” Danny and Lexi?
Ahead of the long-delayed, relocated-from-CBS Season 2, series co-creator Matthew Federman told TVLine, “At Blood & Treasure we have a kind of ‘never say never’ and ‘never say die’ [attitude]. It’s like, who knows? If the numbers are really good, we could always bring the band back together. We have a ton of stories we can tell in this world.” And even though male lead Matt Barr now stars on the new CW drama Walker Independence , “it’s the same corporate umbrella, so I think it could be worked out,” the EP ventured.
More recently, on the day of the Season 2 finale’s release, Federman told fans via Twitter, “I don’t know what the future holds but I’m very proud of what we got to do with this show, shooting our little action/adventure on four continents and through a pandemic. Thanks to our partners at CBS who trusted us to pull it off and our amazing writers, cast, crew and staff. It was very much the adventure of a lifetime. And thanks to everyone who watched and spread the word.”
Hi, I know it’s just trivia but I really missed the shout-out about Simon’s alias in Costa Rica: Guy Baltar, as in Gaius Baltar, played by James Callis in BSG 2003.
Thanks for all the fun coverage!
Michael
Ah, fun! Couldn’t read that quickly.
I saw that too. Might have shouted out loud a bit too loud. Then paused it to update Imdb.
I chuckled when Violet met Simon for the first time and said “Funny, you don’t look like a maniac.” I was sitting there going “Dude was responsible for the destruction of the Twelve Colonies and the near-extinction of the human race… *TWICE!*”
So say we all !!
Hope season 3 natt comw visit wait see
Fun indeed!
The epilogue was nice and kept the story potential open without having a ridiculous cliffhanger, they did a really nice job with it.
It would be nice if they could do a film for Paramount+ if not another season someday.
a Movie or a Series of Movies might be the best way to go…
heck they could plot a Trilogy of 90-120 minute Movies focused on a singular artifact with a staggered Release
I’d really like them to figure out a way to do another season, it’s a fun show.
I really enjoyed both seasons but this one had me anxious to watch each week and see what happens next! I really hope that they continue for more seasons!!
I liked blood and treasure until they moved it to paramount
I’m sick and tired of the shows that I get into and they move to paramount
Designated survivor
Lucifer
Seal team
Thanks for reading
DS and Lucifer moved to Netflix, not P+….
Said with the utmost respect, M1n4, while correct and fair game to point that out, I am of the exact same hivemind and feelings of “John doe” here. It may come as a shock in 2022, or not, and I cannot speak for Mr. Doe in this regard, some out in the US and abroad whom live below without a lot of means like, myself, for example, still views television on a 32″ CRT TV and continue to use Basic Cable. Every show @John Doe noted were programs I followed as well on broadcast and whether were placed behind a “paywall” in the case of Seal Team, Evil, plus Blood and Sand it wholly feels unfair, you know? With Lucifer and Designated Survivor which were “cancelled” then “saved” like Manifest (to add), no Netflix so we’re SOL. About a year or so ago when I mentioned to her how I missed Lucifer as she was at the time I think anticipating Season 5a or 5b via Netflix, she mailed w/o asking a DVD of Lucifer S4, and I was tickled pink! However, I’ve personally yet to sought whether or there is a “Complete 5th and/or 6th Season” for Lucifer in DVD format via Amazon or whatnot.
EDIT: “Mentioned to [A friend], not her”, darn predictive text!
loved it! felt very full circle, great ending, season 3 or no
Love this show, Blood and Treasure. Haven’t found anything quite like it. Love to see more seasons, of course. The stories could be endless!
Maybe it can be shot in high country
Love tge show l ots qcgtion. Live to be in it4
Great post with great content. Take action right away. If you have time, visit me.
Everyone wants to be entertained never knowing what’s around the corner. Blood is Treasure has it all season 2 even better than one. I hope season 3 is just around the bend. It’s different and it keeps the viewers on their toes. Paramount should continue the series. There is always a new adventure
I don’t understand why they didn’t put Mcgyver on paramount plus like they did the equalizer and seal team I really miss that show.
Season 2 is not on TV or Paramount+ in Canada. Super annoying
Love this show and it’s characters. Such fun. Would love another season or string of movies. Have enjoyed Matt since Sleepy Hollow. Glad he’ll be in Walker Independence. Never should have killed him off in Walker.
Point Taken
Loved this season. Pure entertainment. I hope Paramount+ believes in it and orders another season.
They should do a film where they can look for the Ark of Noah or the covenant
Blood and Treasure is a very eventful program, something is always happening. I hope there will be a Season 3 and more to come.
Not sure how season 3 will work as I notice the actor that plays Danny is on a new show “walker independence” on the cw channel. I do hope it will be renewed.
Addressed in story above. “… even though male lead Matt Barr now stars on the new CW drama Walker Independence , “it’s the same corporate umbrella, so I think it could be worked out,” the EP ventured.”
This show is wonderful. Please have more seasons. The actors who play Danny and Lexi are great.
Hoping there will be season 3! Love the show!
Hopefully there will be a season 3!
