CBS on Saturday became the fourth broadcast network (after ABC, The CW and NBC) to lock down premiere dates for the Fall TV season.
Survivor is first out the gate when it returns for Season 47 on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Meanwhile, two of the Eye network’s high-profile launches will receive “sneak peeks” later that month, with Kathy Bates’ Matlock reimagining premiering on a special night, Sunday, Sept. 22, followed by reality competition series The Summit, which will bow Sunday, Sept. 29.
CBS Premiere Week then officially kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 13, with the Season 2 premiere of Tracker. The following night will feature the return of NCIS and the two-hour series premiere of the Gibbs-centric prequel series NCIS: Origins (narrated by Mark Harmon). That week will also include premieres for FBI, Ghosts, Elsbeth, S.W.A.T., Fire Country, Blue Bloods and The Equalizer, plus the debut of Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
A week later, The Neighborhood resurfaces on Mondays, where it will lead into new Wayans family comedy Poppa’s House.

Possibly the Zachary Quinto show and the Joshua Jackson show. The Librarian was a great concept, but the Librarians got boring very quickly. The idea of an old librarian time traveling to the present has some potential…anyhow, we’ll see.
Looking forward to Matlock. Glad it’s finally going to air! Love Kathy Bates. Still salty about Todd’s cancellation, though. That’s the way it goes.
This season will NOT have the “full” 22 episodes, and these mid-October premieres confirm it. Expect 18 or 20 episodes.
Many obvious reasons. Last year’s dual strikes accelerated networks’ demise, Teamsters striking this year. Paramount cost-cutting…
We shall see — feel free, everyone, to email InsideLine!@tvline.com for confirmed official non-rumor episode counts! (SWAT is 22, e.g.)
FWIW, Carrie Preston stated that Elsbeth season 2 will have 20 episodes. Source was an article at Deadline Hollywood.

Tracker confirmed for 22 episodes at The TCA today
Indeed, just 60 seconds ago here in the ballroom.
That is likely. NCIS since the pandemic has been running around 20. With the exception of last year obviously. But they can still do 22. With less reruns. Not running on Tuesday, they won’t the pre-emption on Election day. I guess they want to take any chance of possible debates before the election. Or they are planning on less episodes.
When Skydance officially takes over, provided Skydance does not sell CBS, that is when I think we will see a reduction in the number of episodes for hour long dramas at CBS.
What do you mean skydance sorry do not understand what that is
Skydance Media is purchasing Paramount, causing a lot of trepidation about the future of CBS and Paramount+.
I love when people just say stuff with no concrete proof and confirmation; just obvious hearsay & assumptions written as fact (some reply “facts”).
Honestly, it looks messy with the sneak previews and 90-minute episodes of 60 Minutes. Most other days look fine, but here is what I would do on certain Sundays:
Sep. 22: No sneak peak. Regular programs.
Sep. 29
7:30pm: 60 Minutes (60m)
8:30pm: The Summit (90m sneak peak)
10:00pm: Big Brother
Oct. 06 (as scheduled)
8:00pm: AMAs
10:00pm: Big Brother
Oct. 13
7:00pm: 60 Minutes
8:00pm: Matlock (sneak peek)
9:00pm: Big Brother (finale)
10:30pm: Ghosts (repeat)
I agree. It doesn’t make sense for Matlock’s sneak preview to air 3 weeks prior to its actual series premiere. Have it airing during the same week.
They did the same thing with Elsbeth. CBS is run by morons.
And then Elsbeth got a second season. Are they really morons?
Any word on whether Survivor will do 90-minute episodes after the premiere, as they did most of the previous two seasons?
Yes. Wednesday schedule for the rest of the fall will 90 minute episodes of Survivor and The Summit.
Both of these are BAD! Bring back the good canceled programs. CSI Hawaii was very good, Everybody loved Todd was funny and great. Who is running CBS programming?
90-minute episodes again: https://tvline.com/news/cbs-fall-schedule-2024-lineup-tracker-young-sheldon-ncis-spinoff-1235227615/
Did somebody forget about the show The Equalizer. It’s not on the return date schedule
It’s listed under Sunday, October 27th.
SUNDAY, OCT. 27 following NFL doubleheader
7:30 pm ET/7 pm PT 60 Minutes
8:30 pm ET/8 pm PT Tracker Season 2 premiere
9:30 pm ET/9 pm PT The Equalizer Season 5 premiere
Cbs probably thought it should be cancelled they cancel all the good shows
I don’t understand why 60 Minutes has to be 90 minutes on September 29th. Why not simply have The Summit begin at 8:30pm so Big Brother could finish by 11pm?
Why are CBS shows premiering so late in comparison to the ABC and NBC shows? They are basically starting a whole month after the usual regular series premiere week in September.
Not interested in the “new”NCIS when they already cancelled the Hawaii version. Makes no sense. Don’t need more Gibbs… wanted the other.
Gibbs is NCIS the foundation of the franchise was build around him and his team. And while he has long left the original show he is still the main character in the sense. What was Jenny Tenny and her soap opera induced ‘team’ in the long run? A blip nothing more and considering Hawaii barely made it to 50 episodes says a lot. A poor written show with a female lead does not cover up mediocre writing.
Anything filmed in Hawaii is super expensive. So any show filmed there has to have fantastic ratings not just mediocre ratings. That’s why most shows that have tropical settings like Hawaii are filmed in Australia or New Zealand. Way cheaper to film there.
Defiantly agree
Wonder if they will have to show a 90-minute stopwatch on the 60 Minutes premiere? It’s actually a semi-serious question, because don’t they literally show progress on the watch throughout the episode? I can’t recall any previous episode where the show actually went longer than 60 minutes, but after 55+ years, I suppose it’s possible.
There were six 90 minute episodes last fall.
How did they show the stopwatch? Did it reset after 60 minutes or did they just not show it?
Why are they waiting a month to air the second episode of Matlock? I don’t think that’ll be good for ratings.
Why does Big Brother start on Sept.29th and have its season finale 2 weeks later on Oct. 13th? Or does it premiere earlier in the summer and it’s just not listed?

Loved the original “Matlock”. Am trying to figure out how the new
one fits in with the original. Guess we’ll find out. Hope it’s a success.
The only thing I’m still watching on CBS is Blue Bloods.
I think (the unfortunately cancelled) So Help Me Todd would do well as a smaller seasonal run series like 10-13 episodes and releasing one season per year on Netflix.
The Zany, Quirky, and Fun vibe is definitely for a younger crowd and target audience, one that might be larger at Netflix.
The series could co stream on both Paramount+ and Netflix, similar to how The CW has done in the past or like with “School Spirits” which made Top 10 this past spring.
Netflix also invented another new format to split a season into 2 as Part 1 and Part 2 which became a new normal for hit shows.
Why was So Help Me Todd cancelled? It was so much better than Elsbeth!
Amen it really was elsbeth is so stupid cancel it totally agree with you Trsa
Why is there an ncis organs we all know how he ot to the end ans where he started cannot believe cbs they cancelled ncis hawaii and so help me Todd cbs=crazy but stupid station went from hero to ZERO 99 thumbs DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny after all these years watching CBS for various shows, looks like once Blue Bloods is gone, all I will have left is S.W.A.T. Since the loss of H 5-O, NCIS N.O. and LA, and loosing interest in the original NCIS, looks like I will be done with CBS next year. Don’t expect S.W.A.T. to be around after this coming season. Thanks CBS for the ride, it’s been fun.
3 of the 5 shows canceled were some of my favorites! Especially NCIS: Hawaii! Networks don’t seem to care what viewers want to watch!
The execs at CBS definitely don’t care what viewers want.
They think they’re smarter than the viewers are.
Dang, I gotta wait until 21 Oct to see The Neighborhood!!! This has become one of my favorite comedies. I also have high hopes for Poppa’s House. Outside of these two shows I’m look forward to the Return of Ghosts, and The Equalizer, along with the debut of Matlock, and Georgie & Mandy’s first wedding.
I am very disappointed that you cancelled CSI:Las Vegas and So Help Me Todd. I really got into those shows and now they are gone I hope sometimes in the future you will bring them back.
