WINTER TV PREVIEW

Halo Season 2 Trailer Features Brutal Spartan vs. Elite Action, Joseph Morgan as ‘Formidable’ Ackerson

Paramount+ has let fly with a new, full trailer for Season 2 of Halo, which will premiere Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, with its first two episodes.

The Season 2 poster was also released, seen below.

In Season 2 of the video game adaptation, Master Chief John-117 (played by Pablo Schreiber) leads his team of Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant, risking everything to prove what no one else will believe: that the Covenant are preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold. With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind’s salvation, or its extinction — the Halo.

In the two-minute trailer above, we get plenty of glimpses of Master Chief bustin’ out the big guns (oh, the double entendre!) as said war against the Covenant escalates. Exploding cities, attacking Elites and multiple shots of an epic fight scene in a mist-clogged wasteland populate the rest of the footage. Master Chief vs. tough-looking Elites? Fans won’t need another reason to check out this new season.

One of the main characters in Season 1, Kwan (Reef Break‘s Yerin Ha), is nowhere to be seen, but we do catch very quick shots of Soren (Fargo‘s Bokeem Woodbine) and Dr. Halsey (Californication‘s Natascha McElhone) before the focus shifts back to Master Chief’s heroics.

There’s also a snippet of Season 2 recruit Joseph Morgan (The Originals) as James Ackerson, a formidable intelligence operative who has spent his career climbing the ranks of the UNSC’s secretive Office of Naval Intelligence.

Judging from this action-heavy tease, it seems Season 2 showrunner David Wiener is eager to lean even harder into the high-stakes battles that helped endear the Halo games to millions. Adding even more tension to the proceedings are the various voiceovers hinting at the new season’s themes. One standout line: “We have something the enemy does not. We have heroes.”
