Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter says he is innocent of the sexual assault claims against him that were highlighted in ID’s recent Fallen Idols: Aaron and Nick Carter docuseries.

In interviews included in the series, Melissa Schuman, Ashley Repp and Shannon “Shay” Ruth alleged that Carter engaged in sexual activities with them without their consent. Schuman is a former member of the late 1990s/early 2000s girl group Dream. Repp was a friend of Carter’s sister, Angel. Ruth was a fan.

All three women have previously gone public with their claims.

“These are exactly the same outrageous claims that led us to sue this gang of conspirators,” Carter’s attorney, Dale Hayes, Jr., said in a statement to our sister site The Hollywood Reporter. “Those cases are working their way through the legal system now, and, based on both the initial court rulings and the overwhelming evidence, we have every belief that we will prevail and hold them accountable for spreading these falsehoods.”

TVLine has reached out to Hayes Jr. for additional comment. We also have reached out to ID for comment.

Fallen Idols is a four-part docuseries that delved into the lives of the titular brothers, “from their outsized fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s to their headline-making struggles in recent years,” according to the official description. The show also discussed Aaron’s struggles with mental health and substance abuse, as well as and the rift that occurred after Aaron decided to support his brother’s accusers. (Aaron died of an overdose in November 2022.)
