Call it a self-fulfilling prophecy, suggestive editing or a mix of both, but Morphine Love Dion predicted that she could land in the bottom two on Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race — and she was right.
Morphine vocalized her fear after being paired with Q on this week’s maxi challenge, which required the queens to design and promote their own… bathrooms? (Something tells us this isn’t the episode that Drag Race is going to submit for Emmy consideration.)
Anyway, Q was still bitter about not winning last week, and Morphine worried that her negative attitude could affect their performance. “She just had a bitch fit about not winning — and it was a mega, mega, mega bitch fit — so I hope she got it back because, girl, she could pull be down with her,” Morphine said.
Sure enough, poor Morphine found herself on the receiving end of some less-than-favorable critiques at the end of the night. And just to add insult to injury, the judges drew a direct parallel between Q’s success and Morphine’s failure. “When she was doing her thing so strongly, it left you as an afterthought,” Michelle Visage told her. “And you’re not an afterthought. You’re fiercer than an afterthought.” (Gee, thanks?)
And that’s how Morphine ended up lip syncing against Dawn to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body.” Now, let’s say what must be said: Given this song choice, the odds were stacked against Dawn from the start. She did what she could with her GAP Kids mannequin-esque physique, but it was the drag equivalent of bringing a knife to a gunfight.
So it came as a surprise to absolutely no one when RuPaul told Dawn to sashay away, keeping Morphine in the running to become America’s Next Drag Superstar.

I have to say….Q is not as great as she thinks she is. She’s really talented but seems rather one note in all the comedy and acting challenges. Next to go will be Morphine and then Q & Nymphia will be battling to stay. I predict Sapphira for the win.
I agree with your prediction of Sapphira for the win. I predict there’s no way they get rid of Nymphia before the final three— the judges will want to see whatever amazing outfits she’d bring to the finale, and I bet the producers know it would really make fans angry who’d also feel cheated out of seeing them. To me, it’s a really predictable season: Sapphira, Nymphia, and Jane are an absolute lock for final three I bet; the only suspense for me is if it’s instead a final four like it sometimes is I could see them going with either Q or Morphine, I’m not sure which way they’ll go at this point. Next week will tell I guess.
It’s obvious Sapphire is going to win the season.
It was Dawn’s time.. She’s done well but has never really stood out. She has her own unique style that inhibited her in the challenges. We will miss her snarky, mean-girl commentary for the rest of the season.
There was no way Dawn could dance to that song in that dress. She had no room to even move her legs in that dress! Also Q or Plane? were definitely robbed in the last result. Just like Ru did last year with Sasha, she is obviously pushing Sapphira. Her dress for the 80s was good, but Qs was really well themed as well. Why have the competitions if everything comes down to the runway anyway. Sapphira wasn’t great in the challenge.
Totally agree. Sapphira is amazing but she won last week for her runway. Q’s garment was significantly impactful. They built up Q’s story through their heartfelt disclosure that she is HIV positive. It was a disappointing conclusion.
