The Mayors of Greater Manchester and Liverpool City Region are looking for partners from industry to help us deliver Northern Powerhouse Rail - one of the most important transport infrastructure projects in a generation. Improving rail connectivity between Liverpool and Greater Manchester can turbocharge the economy of the North West and unlock the region's potential to drive national growth. To ensure the project delivers maximum impact and economic and social benefits, a new Partnership Board is being established to provide strategic advice. 🏆Manchester is the highest ranking English City in the latest edition of the Colliers UK's Top UK Residential Investment Cities report. The city scored third overall in the ranking, behind Scottish cities Edinburgh (first) and Glasgow (second). The report claims that Manchester’s new position as the top English city is a result of its strong economic performance, as well as favourable property factors including house price growth, GDP and employment rates. 🏆 Manchester has retained its position in the top 10 UK cities for foreign direct investment (FDI) attractiveness in a report by Irwin Mitchell and Centre for Economics and Business Research. The report credits improved online connectivity and skills provisions within the city. Stockport has secured an eight-place jump in its ranking in the 2024 Investment Attractiveness Index, rising to 25th. ✨In a boost to the region's life sciences sector, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced it will provide around £8m of cloud computing storage access to support UK Biobank, the world’s leading biomedical database based in Greater Manchester. This will be matched by a further £8m in government investment, and forms part of the public, private and philanthropic group set up to keep the world-leading facility at the forefront of medical research.
