We've launched our Carbon Saving Departures Board at London King's Cross. Designed to cut 'carbon jargon', the Board equates the emissions that passengers save travelling by train with LNER from London King’s Cross on a typical day (as opposed to car and plane) to easily recognisable objects. Have you seen our Carbon Savings Departure Board at London King's Cross today? Check it out below ⬇
London North Eastern Railway has gone retro and returned the classic “split flap” display to London King’s Cross. The “Carbon Saving Departures Board” is part of a campaign to simplify carbon-related terms. It compares emissions saved by train travel to everyday objects. Watch out for it elsewhere on the LNER network soon.

Very sad news to hear of the passing of Sir Kenneth Grange, designer of icons. Sir Kenneth created the InterCity 125 train’s stylish looks - the train which transformed the fortunes of inter-city rail travel in Britain in the 1970s and 1980s, with Sir Kenneth’s blue and yellow livery and aerodynamic nose cone came to symbolise the dawn of the 125mph era. I had the immense honour of meeting Sir Kenneth a couple of times, firstly when HST prototype 41001 operated with an EMT HST rake in 2014 then when we ran the @LNER HST farewell tour into King’s Cross and Sir Kenneth and his wife were waiting for us to arrive on the platform. He was a true gentleman as well as a design genius. My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Check out this short clip of the moment Craig came out in a swimming pool…! The National Railway Museum is collating the stories from the LGBTQIA+ community who have worked in, or are currently working in the rail sector as part of their 'People, Pride and Progress' project. Kris (Social Content Manager) sat down with Craig (Employee Experience Business Partner (ED&I Lead)) to learn how attitudes to LGBTQIA+ issues have changed over the last two decades.
