    University of the Arts London’s annual Green Week runs 6-10 February, with a programme of events and activities encompassing everything from film screenings to nature talks, Pants to Poverty walks to Pecha Kuchas, plus conferences, workshops, debates and exhibitions.

    The advertisement company Iris held an event called Arduino Hack Day which is a world wide guerrilla workshop to which you bring your own set of tech tools and creative ideas and collaborate with other developers and engineers to produce new interactive hardwares. Myself, Kate Pincott and Rafael Filomeno worked in a group. We came up with a idea of the midi-shredder which is a mixture between a paper shredder, a music box and a Tamagotchi. It reads the black and white of the paper that is shred…

    The advertisement company Iris held an event called Arduino Hack Day which is a world wide guerrilla workshop to which you bring your own set of tech tools and creative ideas and collaborate with other developers and engineers to produce new interactive hardwares. Myself, Kate Pincott and Rafael Filomeno worked in a group. We came up with a idea of the midi-shredder which is a mixture between a paper shredder, a music box and a Tamagotchi. It reads the black and white of the paper that is shred and turns it into funny or melodic sound. It generates different sounds depending on the character: monster, bird and heavy metal rocker. It encourages more people to use a shredder, therefore being eco-friendly. It also has a small LCD screen on the chest which displays comments such as “Feed me!” when there is not much paper to be shred or “you have saved 5 trees” which makes you feel a sense of reward.
