Spring is exploring the state of tech-enabled philanthropy in the UK and providing practical insight into how digital technology can support giving.
Their report More Than Shaking An Online Tin: How can we take technology-enabled giving to a new level?, launched on 8th May 2012, was conducted and co-written by Spring in partnership with Joe Saxton of nfpSynergy, Sarah Hughes of Charity21 and Sally Yorke.
The digital landscape is once again rapidly changing, presenting fresh challenges for everyone serious about exploiting it. For charities, the challenges are particularly stark; for whilst the large majority of charities endeavour to get a healthy return from their existing efforts (which for many means their websites and emails) the whole experience of digital consumption and digital transactions is changing. The very nature of digital engagement has transformed, and giving is all about engagement.
This research focuses on technology-enabled giving – of time, money or anything else – and its barriers and opportunities.
The report contains insights from interviews with a range of well-qualified practitioners in this field including, for example, Howard Lake (Founder and Director of UK Fundraising), Richard Craig (CEO of the Charity Technology Trust), Ann-Marie Huby (MD of JustGiving) and David Erasmus (Founder of Givey), amongst others.
