Austin Fast is a data reporter on USA Today’s investigations team who uses programming languages to scrape, clean and analyze large data sets and turn them into human-centered stories. He previously reported for NPR Investigations, as well as a variety of newsrooms across Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida and Ohio. Fast earned a master’s degree in investigative journalism from Arizona State. He lives in Phoenix and enjoys hiking the city’s many mountain trails in his spare time.
