Gypsy Rose Blanchard timeline: From her prison release to recent pregnancy announcement

It's been a whirlwind six and a half months since Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the famous victim of a suspected case of Munchausen by Proxy that led to the murder of her mother, was released from prison.

While Blanchard, 32, has only been a free woman since late December, she's already been through everything from red carpet events and Kardashian meetups to a pending divorce and rekindling of an old romance.

Earlier this week, Blanchard drew eyes to her again when she announced her pregnancy with ex-fiance-turned-boyfriend Ken Urker, which came just months after she announced her separation from husband Ryan Scott Anderson.

With so many twists and turns in her ongoing story, it's easy to miss a few things along the way. Here's an overview of the big steps that have taken Blanchard from a newly freed woman to a soon-to-be mom

The murder of Dee Dee Blanchard

Gypsy Rose Blanchard raises her hammer along with mother Dee Dee during the dedication of her family's new home in Springfield, MO.

The case of Clauddine "Dee Dee" and Gypsy Rose Blanchard is one of the most infamous cases of suspected Munchausen by Proxy, a psychological condition that causes a caregiver to engage in attention-seeking behavior by making the person or people under their care ill or making people believe they are ill.

Now known as "Factitious disorder imposed on another," experts suspect this disorder is what caused Dee Dee to lie to friends, family, charities, doctors and even Gypsy herself, convincing everyone her daughter was severely ill and much younger than she was.

Dee Dee went as far as to convince Gypsy she was unable to walk, breathe or eat normally, requiring a wheelchair, feeding tube and oxygen. It was later proven Gypsy was capable of walking, eating and breathing unassisted.

Gypsy and her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, later devised a plan to escape Dee Dee, resulting in her death via stabbing on June 9, 2015. Following the murder, Gypsy was sentenced to 10 years and has since become a well-known figure, granting interviews about her life and crimes and becoming the subject of documentaries and television shows like "Mommy Dead and Dearest" and "The Act."

Prison sentence

Blanchard agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement on July 5, 2016. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

After serving 85% of her 10-year sentence, Gypsy, 32, was officially granted parole in September of 2023. Her release date was set as Dec. 28, 2023.

Romance in prison

Blanchard engaged in several romantic relationships during her time in prison.

Gypsy reportedly began corresponding with Ken Urker, as a pen pal while in prison. They became engaged in 2018 but broke up in 2019.

Eventually, she married Ryan Scott Anderson in July 2022 after meeting him also as a pen pal. According to "People," Anderson was a 37-year-old teacher based in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the time of their marriage. The pair had their first split after three months of marriage but eventually reconciled before Blanchard was released.

Before her release, she told news outlets she was looking forward to spending time with her new spouse.

Prison release

Blanchard was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center prison in the wee morning hours of Dec. 28, 2023.

Rising pop culture star

Blanchard became something of a pop culture sensation following her release from prison. Besides a massive social media presence and plenty of media interviews, she also had her hands in multiple television deals.

A Lifetime special called "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard" and another called "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up" were released to follow Blanchard's journey as a free woman. She even appeared on "The Kardashians" as a guest, along with guest spots on shows including "Good Morning America" and "The View."

In April, Blanchard underwent a rhinoplasty and septoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery). She also had dental work done at the same time to improve the look of her smile, both procedures she told "People" were part of her "personal transformation journey" that "includes a physical one, too."

Breakup with Ryan Anderson

Blanchard shared the news that she and Anderson had broken up on her private Facebook page in March 2024.

"People have been asking what is going on in my life," she wrote, according to "People." "Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents [sic] home down the bayou."

While the breakup initially seemed amicable, both parties have since spoken about the other on camera and social media, leading to some back-and-forth and online drama.

Blanchard formally filed for divorce in April.

New boyfriend, old fiance Ken Urker

By late April, Blanchard announced she was back with her "soulmate" and ex-fiance, Ken Urker. Blanchard had previously admitted to still having feelings for Urker and speaking to him while with Anderson.

In a now-deleted TikTok, Blanchard called her love story with Urker "legendary."

"Soulmates will always find each other," she wrote in the video, "regardless of time, distance and circumstance."

Pregnancy announcement

On July 9 Gypsy Rose announced her pregnancy with Urker via a YouTube video titled "I'm Pregnant, My Journey So Far."

In it, she told fans she was 11 weeks pregnant and that the child is due in January 2025.

"We're both very excited," she said. "This was not planned at all. It was completely unexpected, but we're both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood."

Blanchard said she has felt a "shift in" herself since she learned of her pregnancy, which made her realize that "none of anything else mattered."

"All of the things I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby," she said. "...I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn't."

She addresses questions of paternity that began to swirl soon after, questioning if the baby was truly Urker's or if it could be Anderson's.

In a July 12 appearance on "Good Morning America," she said it was mid-March when she left Anderson and it was impossible the baby was his.

"This is absolutely 100 percent Ken's baby. There was never any question of paternity," she said.

Also addressing questions about her readiness to be a mother, she said in her YouTube video, "I don't know if anyone's really ready to become a mother. I don't know anybody that said, 'Okay, I'm ready. I'm doing this.' In my experience, everybody that I ever talked to, they're like, 'It just happened."
