Four-star running back Paul Lucas of Phoenix Mountain Pointe gave Arizona State a nice holiday gift, committing to the Sun Devils on Christmas Day.

Lucas made the announcement on his Twitter account: “Woke up (and) decided to be a Sun Devil.”

Lucas — known for his speed — is the 17th known commitment to coach Todd Graham’s 2015 recruiting class and the fourth high school player from Arizona. He joins Chandler quarterback Bryce Perkins, Gilbert offensive lineman Steve Miller and Gilbert Williams Field offensive lineman Cade Cote.

Recruiting-service Rivals ranks Lucas as the No. 8 all-purpose back in the country. Scout.com ranks Lucas as a three-star prospect and the West’s fifth-best running back. 247 Sports lists Lucas as a three-star prospect as well.
