Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson is an American actor from Austin, Texas. The daughter of popular Hollywood actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, she made her film debut at 10 years old opposite her mother in “Crazy in Alabama” (1999). A minor but memorable part acting opposite Justin Timberlake in David Fincher’s Oscar-winning Facebook drama and “The Social Network” (2010) generated buzz for her rising career, which exploded in newfound popularity when Johnson was cast as Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades” erotic film trilogy, based on the novels by author E.L. James. Johnson headlined the trilogy with Jamie Dornan, and the three films (“Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Fifty Shades Darker,” “Fifty Shades Freed”) grossed a combined $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office from 2015 to 2018. Her collaborations with Luca Guadagnino, “A Bigger Splash” (2015) and “Suspiria” (2018), plus a key supporting role in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Lost Daughter” (2021) made Johnson an art house favorite as she continued to take studio roles in the likes of “Black Mass” (2015), “How to Be Single” (2016), “Bad Times at the El Royale” (2018) and more. She founded the production company TeaTime Pictures in 2019. The studio went on to make the Sundance favorite “Cha Cha Real Smooth” (2022), which co-starred Johnson and won the festival's audience award in the U.S. dramatic competition. Johnson is playing the title role in Sony's "Madame Web," which is set in the studio's Spider-Man universe.
