"Wednesday" is a Netflix television series following the adventures and exploits of Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), who is forced to enroll at Nevermore Academy after being expelled from her previous high school. Upon her entrance into the school, Wednesday develops her own psychic powers and becomes quickly embroiled in a murder mystery scheme that forces her to unearth secrets from the Academy and from her parents' past.

In addition to Ortega, the show stars Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogaway, Moosa Mostafa and Christina Ricci. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar created the series, based on the characters originally invented by Charles Addams. The eight episodes, which premiered on November 16, 2022, became the second-most watched English-language Netflix series three weeks after its release. The series was widely lauded by critics, who praised Ortega's performance in particular. "Wednesday" garnered two Golden Globe nominations, for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy and Best Actress — Television Series Musical or Comedy, in addition to two Emmy nominations.

Netflix announced that the series had been renewed for Season 2 in January 2023. The executive producers on the project included Gough, Millar and Ortega, in addition to Tim Burton, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Gail Berman, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Tommy Harper, Kevin Lafferty and Kevin Miserocchi. Burton's Tim Burton Productions was one of the production companies behind the show, in addition to MGM Television, Millar Gough Ink and Toluca Pictures. Danny Elfman and Chris Bacon composed the music in the show.
