In Disney-Pixar’s “Onward,” Marvel superheroes Tom Holland and Chris Pratt get animated to voice elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot in the fantasy adventure film. On Ian’s 16th birthday, the pair sets off on a quest to find a way to resurrect their late father for just 24 hours, using magic.

So in light of the on-screen road trip, Variety’s Angelique Jackson asked the cast — which also includes Octavia Spencer and Julia Louis-Dreyfus — to share their own favorite road trip memories.

“I’m not really a road trip person, I like a plane trip, so then I can spend the rest of the time poolside,” Spencer quipped. “My favorite road trip is getting out of the car in the parking lot and getting into the hotel.”

Pratt recalled a heartwarming memory of driving from Washington to Minnesota with his family as a child. “All five of us in a small car and falling asleep in the back seat on my dad’s chest and waking up at my grandfather’s lake house,” he shared. “In that moment, I didn’t want to wake up. I just wanted to lay there on my dad.”

For Holland, the concept is a little more foreign. “I don’t think I’ve ever been on a road trip. We live in England and there’s not that far to go,” Holland said, though he relished the chance to take the on-screen journey with Pratt. “He’s someone that I really look up to and someone that I really appreciate. And I’m glad that we’re good buddies.”
