Between celebrities accentuating mental health, overdue apologies and Indian movie spectacles generating Oscar buzz, there was a lot to discuss on this week’s episode of “The Take.”

Hollywood superstar Tom Holland and two-time Oscar nominee Jonah Hill both shed light on the effects of social media and mental health this week. Holland is stepping away from his social media accounts while Hill will no longer promote future projects due to anxiety. Meanwhile, embattled “Flash” actor Ezra Miller apologized for several public scandals over the past several months and is seeking professional help for mental health.

The action epic “RRR” has continued to dominate chatter on social media, after becoming one of the biggest films of all time in India. With its massively popular stars Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. capturing global attention, can this be India’s submission for best international feature after not being nominated for 21 years?

Speaking of Oscars, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences issued a long overdue apology to Sacheen Littlefeather, the Native American activist and actor who went on stage to decline the Oscar on behalf of Marlon Brando for “The Godfather” in 1973.

Finally, members of the Television Academy are casting their votes for the Primetime Emmy Awards, with the window closing Monday, August 22, at 10:00 p.m. With big names and hot titles like Zendaya, “Better Call Saul” and “The White Lotus” in the running, who’s leading the pack?

Hosted by Variety chief correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister and senior awards editor Clayton Davis, Variety‘s “The Take,” presented by Apple TV+, is a weekly series that navigates the week’s top stories from entertainment, pop culture and media, while providing expert analysis and exclusive insight on what’s buzzing in Hollywood.
