GLAAD has declared today, October 20th, an official day of support for the GLBTQ community in light of the wave of bullying-related gay student suicides that has taken place over the past few weeks. The mission is simple: everyone is invited to wear purple in honor of the six boys who have died and to show support for kids who may still be victims of bullying to let them know that they're not alone.

Thanks to media coverage and the help of awareness generated by the It Gets Better video project, it looks like the day will have a good turnout. In fact, just one of the Facebook events created to spread the word has over 1,500,000 attendees and counting.
