People I Want To See In A Batman Movie:
Michelle Rodriguez as Renee Montoya
(I feel like this is a little too obvious, but none of the other suggestions I’ve seen look quite right.)

She’s…usually my first choice, yeah! I’m open to other possibilities, but I just think she’d pretty much be perfect?

This is much better; real “X-Men:First Class” photos

The awful, awkward photoshopped picture that has been making the rounds can now be forgotten. Here are some real photos via the LA Times and they look really good.

Here are Kevin Bacon and January Jones as Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost. Emma’s outfit looks great — traditional white with a touch of Emma Peel. That’s what I was hoping for.

And here is one of the nascent team decked in some very 60s threads.

Emma Frost’s costume: SERIOUS UPGRADE.

I keep expecting Vampire Weekend to start playing whenever I look at the group photo though

I kinda wish Kevin Bacon’s sideburns were more out of control.

MY MEAGER CONTRIBUTION TO ANY DREAMCASTING DISCUSSION: Lauren Velez is a badass badass badass actress (see: I Like it Like That, Oz, I don’t watch Dexter but I’m confident she kills it in that too) and the Renee Montoya of my heaaaart. And I have to bring this up as much as possible because both she and Renee are never in enough things.

I think this would work pretty much perfectly?

Hi! Since you mentioned Santa Prisca in that post about Bane I went and did a little research and saw that it was introduced in The Question (at least that's what my info told me). SO I was wondering if you knew what issue that would be and if it's in a collected edition of the series. I didn't know anyone else to go to for Question inquiries :P
Thanks in advance!

I think it was Q?v1 #10! There was a whole mini-arc through 9-11 covering Tot’s history, and he got kidnapped and taken to Santa Prisca to help solve a science problem.

It should be collected in the second TPB, Poisoned Ground.

a few points before I return to packing

  • I am a Tom Hardy fan.
  • Tom Hardy is not Latino.
  • Therefore he shouldn’t be portraying a Latino character.
  • But then again it’s not like the Batman movies have done a fantastic time with their Latino portrayals thus far.
  • And maybe you think it’s not a big deal…
  • …but then again, maybe you’ve got a whole slough of characters who look like you and it doesn’t occur to you that maybe that’s something other people want to see.
  • Or maybe you don’t have that, but you don’t care.
  • That’s great.
  • Not everyone feels the same way.
  • I for one would like to see more Latino people in movies, so when there should be one and there isn’t? I’m sort of irked.
  • And I know there are people who feel more strongly about it than I do.
  • There’s not just one narrative.

Given the Tom Hardy casting, there’s been a lot of talk about Bane’s race. He was known to have a white father, so the question of his mother came up. I found this shot of her in Gotham Knights #48.

I know that in Batman: The Animated Series they portrayed him with some sort of South American accent. I can’t remember if they mentioned where he was from, but I kind of liked the way he was presented

In his Bio in Batman: Arkham Asylum video game I believe it says he is from South America as well. I can’t remember from which part for sure but he had that sort of accent as well.

There’s no question of his nationality. He’s established as being from Santa Prisca, a fictional country in the Caribbean. But nationality doesn’t always equal race, which is why the question came up.

There was an earlier glimpse in a photograph in Gotham Knight #34, it seems a bit less ambiguous.

I know a couple of faceless folks who would appreciate this.
