RedditGifts was started for Christmas 2009 to be an online secret santa for the reddit community. RedditGifts has since become a way for the reddit community to hold exchanges like secret santa at any point in the year.
It's pretty simple really, here's how it works:
1. You sign up for RedditGifts (you need to have a reddit account).
2. You sign up for an exchange, if there's one accepting sign ups.
3. You wait for your exchange to do matching.
Wait, what is matching?
OK, real quick. Matching is where we take all the participants in an exchange, put them into a big hat, shake the hat up and start exchanging
names. It's a bit more complicated than that, but you get the information of another person to send a gift to. To answer the question in your
head right now, no, the person you send a gift to is not the person who sends a gift back to you.
Alright, back to how it works.
4. You retrieve your match's information on RedditGifts.
5. You spend some time online figuring out what your match might like to receive and pick out a super cool gift for them.
6. You send that gift to them and come back to RedditGifts and confirm that you shipped your gift.
7. If you're lucky, you receive a gift, but remember, RedditGifts is about the giving! When you receive a gift
you come to RedditGifts and tell us about your gift, post photos and stuff like that and it shows up in our gallery where people
can comment on it and vote on it.
8. You get a cool trophy on your RedditGifts profile page.
