Wednesday night’s American Idol brought the drama alright, but much of it came before the show even started. That’s when rumors began flying (thanks to the insatiable TMZ) that host Ryan Seacrest was “MIA” with only minutes left to show’s start. Some contestants won perfect scores in the first and second rounds, and others missed the mark at least once on a stage solo. All in all, like Jennifer Lopez said, "Everybody had one good performance. It's about who America loves."

But the falsetto-voiced contestant is self-aware: he knows he's polarizing and aims to grow from his Idol experience. British and Irish boy band The Wanted have been working overtime to make their mark in the U.S., starting with club gigs in January, graduating to theaters in February and on Thursday, their biggest stage yet on American Idol.
Band members Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes had girls in the Idol audience squealing upon first sight, and performing their hit single, "Glad You Came," certainly seemed to satisfy.

Ryan Seacrest was there in the beginning, and he's here to stay -- for now.
The multi-tasking TV host and producer said he intends to remain on American Idol, and that an official announcement is forthcoming. His Idol contract is set to expire after the current season.
"I plan to stay there," he told the Today show's Matt Lauer on Wednesday. "I expect to be on that show."
