Exchange credits are what you get for participating in exchanges. They are free and the more you participate the more you get.
When you sign up for redditgifts, you are given 1 credit. When you sign up for an exchange, it costs 1 credit. When you have completed everything required of an exchange, you will receive your credit back, as well as an additional credit for completing the exchange. If you were a rematch Santa, you will receive 1 bonus credit for the exchange. The number of credits you have indicates the number of simultaneous exchanges you can participate in.
We do this to try to ensure that people do not sign up for many exchanges just to receive gifts. Hopefully as more time goes on, the more effective this system will be.

There are three primary exchanges every year, Secret Santa in December, Arbitrary Day in June, and Halloween in October. Look for information to start popping up early December, May, and September respectively.
There are also many other exchanges throughout the year. If you mark your profile (http://redditgifts.com/prof...) and make sure the box beside “Receive upcoming exchange notifications?” is checked, you will get an email when they are announced.

We understand that life sometimes gets in the way of good intentions. Any time before you are matched you may cancel. Once matching is done, however,, you can not cancel your participation.
If you would like to cancel your participation before Matching Day, go to your Exchanges page (http://redditgifts.com/exch...) and click on the title of the exchange you would like to cancel participation for, and click the "cancel participation" link.

No, you opt-in to shipping internationally. **Please note that this is a preference, not a guarantee.**
If there are not enough people signed up in your country, you may get matched internationally, despite your preference. Likewise, if you opted-in to international shipping, you may be matched domestically.

On matching day, our system will randomly match you with another redditor in a completely random fashion and you are not matched to each other.
E.g. ilovecats may send to ilovedogs who may send to ihatecats who may send to I hatedogs who may send to ilovecats. It’s completely random.
You are not provided with information on your Santa, only your giftee.

Now, you get to stalk them, in a non-creepy way of course. Check their reddit history. Stalk them on metareddit. You can look for them on google, facebook, twitter, linkedin, whatever. You do have all the information they have chosen to give you, so use it.. But please do not be creepy about it.

No. Who you are matched with is who you are matched with. Please keep in mind that you chose to give a gift for the sake of gift giving only and your gift may enlighten someone else’s life.

Yes. Contacting your giftee is not required, but if you want to ask them something, on the Retrieve Match page (http://redditgifts.com/exch...), click on the exchange title, then lick on “retrieve match” and there is a link below your giftee’s address which lets you send an anonymous message. When you send a message, your giftee will get an email letting them know, and you will get an email letting you know when they reply.

Your exchanges screen features a parcel icon that represents the gift you can expect. The date below indicates when the information was most recently retrieved by your Santa. This will change depending on how often your Santa looks at your info. The date indicates the latest date they looked at your info. When the present is shipped, the icon will turn green and the shipping information provided by your Santa will be to the right.
Tracking numbers are not required, but they are encouraged. Please also keep in mind that some people don’t check more than once.

Your giftee is counting on you and they are waiting. If you are late shipping, please send your giftee a PM and let them know that they have not been forgotten.
If you do ship late, redditgifts will send you You will receive reminder emails. If you are very late, your giftee may mark the gift as unreceived which will result in you being banned from redditgift exchanges. That’s not cool.

Your exchange credit will be returned to you once your giftee posts their gift. If you go to your exchanges page (http://redditgifts.com/exch...), you will see the exchange icon in grayscale and "Please wait for your match to post the gift you sent" if all that remains is your giftee to post.
There will be a cutoff date by which all people who's giftees do not post the gift they received will receive their credit back.

The participation trophies for the "major exchanges" (ie. Secret Santa, Arbitrary Day and Halloween) also appear on your reddit profile. No other redditgift trophy will appear on your reddit profile.

Please check with your local postal service for specifics, but general best practices are:
- Do not wrap the package. You can wrap what's inside, but not the shipping box.
- Ensure the destination address is clear. Don't forget, you can print a shipping label from the Retrieve Match page.
- Return addresses are generally not required for domestic shipping. However, if there is a problem with delivering the package, it won't be able to be returned to you without a return address.
- We strongly suggest getting a tracking number or some other form of delivery confirmation and be sure to keep a copy of your receipt in case of any problems.

Shipping internationally can be very expensive, please be aware of that and work it into your budgeting.
Here are some tips we've gathered for the past exchanges:
- Check what can/can not be imported into the destination county. This information can generally be found on the destination country's embassy or customs webpage. USPS seems to have a pretty comprehensive list available: http://pe.usps.com/text/imm...
- When filling out the customs forms, make sure you indicate it is a gift and be as generically specific about the contents as you can. You don't need to do into absolute detail, but simply writing "gift" as the contents may raise some flags by customs. Whereas, "books, toys, candy" will generally not cause problems.
- The customs form will require you to write the monetary value of the contents, the higher the amount, the more likely your giftee is to be charged import fees.
- The customs form may require a phone number for the recipient, if that is the case, please message your giftee to get the information.
- If possible, avoid using a courier service. Many of them will charge your giftee a customs handling fee as well as any customs or import fees in order for them to receive their gift. If you must use a courier service, you can consider sending your giftee money to cover the cost, or, at the very least give them a heads up.
- If shipping costs end up being too high for you, look for a local to your giftee online shop and purchase a gift directly from there.

In a small percentage of cases some people do not receive their initial gift. It is horrible and we hate it but it does happen in a small percentage of cases. People may have had problems with mail or theft issues, their Santa may have had unforeseen circumstances, or sometimes the giftee is just being a Grinch. Redditgifts does not like Grinches. Grinches are banned. But if your initial gift does not show up, you may be rematched.
When a person does not receive a gift from their match, we try to rematch them with another person who offers to send them a gift. That match is also arranged randomly.

Go to the Meetups page (http://redditgifts.com/meet...) and it will automatically show you the meetups within 50 miles of the address you've entered in your profile. You can search based on a keyword and change your search location and radius to find more meetups.

If there is more than one organizer (people who will be able to edit this event on redditgifts), enter their names separated by a comma. After you've saved the meetup, go ahead and advertize it on all the relevant subreddits, the more the merrier, right?

2. Click on the link to the appropriate meetup
3. If you are an organizer for a meetup, simply for to the meetup's page, and you'll see an "edit" button. You can also send a bulk email to everyone who has RSVP'ed as well as inactivate (cancel) the meetup if needed.

The recognition of being a mod on reddit doesn't transfer automatically to redditgifts. Please contact the admins at support@redditgifts.com with your username and the subreddits you moderate. After verifying, they will make you a moderator on redditgifts for those subreddits. That will let you be an organizer, whether identified or not, on all meetups attached to your subreddits.
