Start out at Golden Gardens and decide where to go from there?
I wasn't there last year, but that sounds like a blast. A big Reddit potluck. I imagine lots and lots of bacon.
Making it like last year sounds good to me. It's a damn good location for our size and what we do.
A BBQ sounds great, last year's was a hit. And shall we just say, anytime from 10:30- onward? Well set up a flag or something to distinguish us from the rest of the crowd that's sure to be there. I'm open to any other suggestions, this is a GROUP EFFORT. :)
Last year's world Reddit day was awesome, I'm all for a repeat filled with beer, meat, and fellowship.
I don't want to come off as a moocher, but by the time this meetup gets off the ground, I will have just moved to Seattle. I could try to make something, but I don't know if that will be possible in large portions because, again, I will have just moved into the city. I could bring beer I guess. =)
I wouldn't worry about the mooching thing. Last year the number of people who showed up was perhaps 200 and there was enough food and alcohol for everyone plus some. Just pay it forward for the next meetup.
Speaking of the alcohol, is there some age requirement for this? My roommate is 21 and I'm 19....would I not be able to attend?
The meeting will be all ages. The alcohol isn't technically allowed because it's a public park, but people will inevitably bring it. It will be exceptionally easy to avoid if you don't want it.
Last year it was very loosely organized. Some one suggested Golden Gardens, another person paid money to reserve the space, 10's of people volunteered to cook meat, someone brought a troll-face pinata, someone brought a massive sign for the picture, many more brought chips and drinks, and a couple people brought cameras for the group picture. Everything just come together naturally.
I'm sure it will be the same this year. I doubt that an organizing committee or anything would have any more success than what Reddit will naturally do if left to its devices.
This sounds really exciting! Its two days after my Birthday so I'll make a special Reddit Birthday cake :D
I can pitch in an extra camera and drinks! C: Also maybe cupcakes? Damn, that'd be a lot of cupcakes. I'd need to prepare.
This sounds so fun! Can't wait. :D
I'll definitely photograph the group again. I'd recommend banners, prop reddit aliens, and more! Maybe some pyrotechnics for the photo op? We need to top this: http://i.imgur.com/4l1xB.jpg
Do we want to make this at all like the massive BBQ of last year?
