Meet your friendly local Redditor in the wild. Any suggestions on where to meet up?
I just went onto their page and as cool as it looks, it doesn't look like they're particularly friendly to young'uns like me.
True. Even during the daytime you have to be 21 or with parents to go there.
What about like Dave and Busters or something? You don't have to be 21 to get in, and the adults can still have a beer. I feel like D&B is kind of lame though. anyone know of any other places like this?
If we're looking for a trade off between good food, beer, and availability for everyone, the Keg is always a good call.
I have no idea if the Keg looks like the photos on the website, but if we are looking for some place a little more casual there's a pub that allows people under 21 called Rosie McCaffery's that's really good and fits our needs. But first I think we should all figure out how old everyone is and what part of Phoenix we are so we can narrow down our list.
Since many of us will be drinking, somewhere near the light rail would be awesome!
How about a nice barbecue at Tempe Beach Park? We could start a little earlier and for those of who want to get their drink on Mill Ave. is very close as is the light rail.
I know a few redditors out in the Far East Valley that will probably attend. I like Lemoniegoodness's suggestion!
This is the Phoenix Global Reddit Meetup Day, not Tempe Global Reddit Meetup Day.
Le Grande Orange or Lo Lo's Chicken and Waffles. Both are in Phoenix, delicious, and have enough space for us (hopefully).
So what I'm getting so far is start earlier than 7, make it someplace maybe like a park so that everyone of all ages can join us. BBQ and someplace local to have a drink. How about Encanto Park? BBQ's, walking around stuff, kids play areas, geese. How can you beat that?
I have a feeling more than 11 people may come, so I don't want to blow out the seating at Lo-Lo's or something so they hate us.
Is Encanto park close to the light rail? I love the BBQ ideas. Even though I am close to Tempe, we do want to make sure it's a good spot everyone can get too.
Be weary of the heat guys, going to a park in June with no water-sports can be a turn off to some people.
Is this all the redditors we can get? Does anyone know any IRL? Maybe you could invite some fellow redditors to join the meetup.
There's a fairly active "Reddit" Facebook group. They didn't seem interested in planning this last week. Maybe as the date gets closer, there will be more interest.
I like the Dave and Busters idea or how about Gameworks?
How would people feel about Four Peaks? A valley staple with delicious beer and food!
