Newly launched Los Angeles-based online retailer Super Street is quickly building a solid fan base, not only with its roster of high-street-meets-streetwear brands, but also with same-day local delivery service.

"The girl who is shopping on Super Street, in my mind, is the girl who is pairing her Rochas bag with a pair of Huf socks or sweatshirt," explains founder Lucy Akin of her vision for the site. "I wanted to make the high-low concept a little different, with a skateboard twist."

Akin developed a keen eye for a wide range of brands as the head buyer for local boutique Satine for three years, a position she left in December 2013. Prior to that, Akin worked as the studio manager for Los Angeles designer Jenni Kayne (now carried on her site).

The concept of local delivery arose from Akin's friends at local talent agencies, who would reach out to her at Satine with gift requests for celebrity clients that they needed "yesterday," she explained. "Most of the time we weren't able to cater to that crowd, and I wanted to capture that." Akin and her team also offer a personalized concierge service for customers in need of recommendations and gift suggestions. Orders placed online before 12 p.m. are eligible for same-day delivery by 6 p.m. in Los Angeles. Items can also be picked up during business hours from Super Street's Culver City headquarters.

Brands currently carried on the site range from New York-based artist Baron Von Fancy and t-shirt line Deer Dana to Sonia Rykiel, Xirena, Equipment, Huf and Linda Farrow. Look out for Eugenia Kim, Opening Ceremony, Vanessa Bruno and Moschino in the near future, as well as Rodarte in the fall.

Also keep an eye open for a Los Angeles-based pop-up shop for a weekend in July. Details on the location and date will be revealed soon.
