Set in the present, "Christopher's Diary" is about a teen girl who becomes obsessed with the Dollanganger kids story after finding one of their journals in the ruins of of the house they were imprisoned in.

There's more flowers growing in the attic.

Publisher Pocket Books announced two new follow-ups to V.C. Andrews' Dollanganger series. Christopher's Diary: Secrets of Foxworth and Christopher's Diary: Echoes of Dollanganger will be released in October 2014 and January 2015, respectively.

The first books in the series, Flowers in the Attic, and its sequel, Petals on the Wind, tell the story of the four Dollanganger children — Christopher, Cathy, Cory and Carrie — who are locked in an attic for years by their cruel mother and grandmother, but who then escape and forge a new life for themselves.

Christopher's Diary picks up the story in the present when 17-year-old Kristin Masterwood — a distant relative of the Dollangangers— discovers the diary in the ruins of Foxworth Hall, the Virginia house in which the Dollanganger kids were imprisoned, and his story becomes a dangerous obsession for Kristin.

The original novels have been extremely popular since Flowers' publication in 1979 and Petals' publication the next year, with both topping best-seller lists. Led by Flowers, Andrews' worldwide sales have topped 106 million books.

Andrews died in 1986 at age 63, but her estate has continued to publish novels under her name by using a ghostwriter to build on partially completed manuscripts, plot outlines and notes she left behind.

Flowers was made into a Lifetime TV movie with Kiernan Shipka, Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn that aired in January, drawing 6.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated basic cable movie since November 2012.

Its sequel, Petals on the Wind, is set to air on May 26.
