A logo is an image that represents you or your brand that is typically placed in a prominent position at the top of a website. This guide will show you how to add a logo to your site.
If you’re just getting started with your website, project, or business, you may not have a logo yet. Keep the following advice in mind when creating a logo image:
- Use a .png file with a transparent background so the logo does not appear with a white box around it when you place it on your website.
- Keep the design simple so it will look good on all screens, big and small.
- The recommended size of your logo will depend on your theme, but 200px wide is a good starting point to experiment with.
- Create a smaller version of your logo to use as your site icon.
While there are many tools you could choose to design your logo, WordPress.com has partnered with Fiverr to make it easy for you to create a stunning logo in seconds.
To create a logo for your website using Fiverr, follow these steps:
- Visit the Fiverr logo maker website.
- Enter the name of your company or blog and a slogan if you have one, and click Generate.
- Fiverr will automatically create logos for you. You can choose your preferred design and customize the color, font, font size, spacing, positioning, and more.
- After you purchase your logo, you can download the image file.
- Upload the logo image to WordPress.com following the steps in the next section.
In most cases, you will add your logo using the Site Editor. However, if your site uses a classic or third-party theme, you may need to use the Customizer to edit your to add your site’s logo.
A quick way to determine if your site uses the Site Editor is to check under Appearance in your dashboard. If you see Editor here, you use a Site Editor theme.
Select the appropriate tab for your interface:
To add a logo to your site using the Site Editor, follow these steps:
- Visit your site’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance → Editor to open the Site Editor.
- Click Patterns to view all of your site’s template parts.
- Scroll down below the list of pattern categories to the “Template Parts” section and select the Header template part:

- Select the Header template part that you want to edit.
- Your theme may include multiple variations of your header to choose from here.
- Note the name of the Header template part so you can insert it into a template later.
- Click the preview of the Header template part to close the left sidebar and open the editing interface.
- (Optional) Open the List View (three vertical lines near the top left of your editor) to see a list of all blocks in the header.
- In the Header template part editor, click the + block inserter to add a block.
- Search for and add the Site Logo block.
- Click the upload icon in the Site Logo block to add your logo.
- Make any adjustments to the size and position of the logo using the WordPress editor.
- Click the “Save” button to publish your changes.
